I've been planning for a new pc , seems like i wud be going with hackintoch this time.
I just wanna know about those hackintoch optimized audio drivers ,does they alter the sound quality ???

and i got no room for a interface for now :( so i will be relying on the integrated sound card .

I had a hackintosh for a few years, I used an external usb audio device so i never had trouble with the audio.
for internal audio I recommend a good GIGABYTE MOBO!!!

you really aren't going to get real far using the onboard soundcard tbh.
the latency will be in the 100's of ms and the track count will be low.
if you are planning on recording an input these two things will screw you.

if you plan on making beats in the box in non realtime, it might be ok i guess.

i agree latency gets annoying some times when i get carried away with effects n plugins, but i mainly do EDM and most of the time i end up freezing tracks though i believe an interface is a must have for a studio *yes*

    Hi,
    look at this site:

    http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/search/label/CustoMac

..... for the mobo Gigabyte!!!! about latency look here:

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1415783

The thing about Asus motherboards is, you can't turn off "HPET" in the BIOS,on the Gigabytes you can (HPET increases DPC latency).

Soundcard with asio/core audio is a must,m-audio fast track are cheap:

    http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/FastTrack.html

you can find it really cheap on ebay!!!

uh, oxygen 49 is about as FAR from good quality as you can get. They did redeem themselves with the axiom line though.
