Do what any good composer does - stay true to whatever you want because it really does not matter what anyone else thinks, it's what you as the composer thinks. When people talk of selling out many get it wrong that it is playing what is popular. Selling out is when you try and please others instead of writing for the sake of the art, regardless of what style it is.

It's Souncloud fault. It doesn't have an HTML5/Javascript replacement for Flash embedded audio. I'm not a flash hater (in fact the opposite) but in this day and age... shame on you Soundcloud...

I've been playing bass for many years and here are a few things you should pay attention to.

playing bass is far more than just playing the basic note of the chord so if I were you I would investigate what possibilities there are in each of the chords you use in your project. Perhaps you should also consider how many notes the bass should play in each bar because it makes a huge difference to the final song.

In your project you have a very active guitar so I would choose a less active bass so your project is more clear and simple while working well with the drums.

Playing a good bass generally does not have much respect and it's a shame.

Will be interesting to hear when your project is completed

It sounds good, but I prefer more sustain in the strum, there is a "cut" between strums that sounds unnatural

Well, I was talking about the embedded SoundCloud tracks that don't work without flash.
But it happens that SoundCloud uses ZippyShare for downloading (probably also for storing). So when you download SoundCloud tracks you get Zippyshare links.

The track, at least mine, was uploaded to Zippy and not Soundcloud.

Yes I understood what you mean thought the style is not for this song as of now. I or the other guitarist might do something similar once we have the rhythm bed laird down. If you listen to my lead the distorted one you will heard I did something similar with the chords.

In my limited experience next to a mountain, it is truly worth delaying anything until you find the "X factor" you were looking for. Those magic unique sounds or instruments that make it characterize your song as being all yours.
I do not know what the cut-off date is for spending too much time or too little in this process is, but if finding something unique is your goal it is worth holding off a final until you are confident you have exhausted as much energy searching that the tune warrants.
    Cheers

The choppy-rhythmic chord strumming patterns sound great when the beat is underneath it. When the guitar playing by itself, I would do traditional long strumming patterns (with the same chords), not syncopated staccatto (not choppy rhythmic). Just my 2 cents.
