So lately, I have configured my system in a way that I can have an analyzer run alongside any program I use.
I know it might not be the most trivial thing to set up, especially if you don't have a lot of expensive hardware.

Anyway, what works for me is using VBAudioMatrix and Flux:: Mira Session, which is a great Analyzer. I guess you can use any analyzer that will run standalone. I just like the Flux analyzer a lot. The main problem with the Flux analyzer was, that it only allows ASIO Inputs and the normal Windows audio is not sent to ASIO outputs by default. Using VBAudioMatrix this is possible, however.

(I am using the VAIO Output for my system audio and send it to the ASIO output of my sound card and to the VASIO output that I use with the Flux analyzer. I deleted other routings, so it would be more clear.)

After setting it up, I can have the analyzer run constantly, and I will see exactly what is going on. The main advantage is, that it is on my main analyzer, that I use when I am producing music as well.

(This is just an example of what it will look like)

If you can watch your analyzer constantly, you will get a real feeling about where the frequencies are and what it should look like. It is great when watching tutorials as well, because a lot of the time, they don't show an analyzer when you would want to know what is happening, or how a certain element should look like.
The same goes for listening to music. You can easily watch the tracks that you love, when listening to them, and you get a great feel for what to aim for when you are mixing your music.

I guess this might be especially useful, if your listening environment is not perfect, as you can have the visual feedback as well.

Anyway, let me know what you think.
