Hi. I could see quite a few articles about Waves Sync Vx recently. What is the purpose and practical use of such apps like Auto-Align or Precision Time Align? What I understand those apps allow to sync different vocal takes to make the sound fatter, right? So for this purpose I could duplicate the vocal track and de-sync it to get similar effect.

 

Imagine you're recording an instrument with multiple microphones into a multitrack DAW.
When you play back all tracks, depending on microphone placement, you could experience weird sound if the phases are not aligned to properly add to each other.
Now you can either move each track until its phase is in sync with the other tracks, or let those alignment apps do the work for you.

In short - yes. I've done that in SynchroArt's Revoice 5 Pro & Vocalign Pro 6. In my experience, Revoice 5 has the best algo & features for both scenarios, just a bit of learning curve needed because the audio needs to go back and forth between the DAW and the application.

 

does anyone knows a valid alternative to replace auto align post 2 for sync boom and lavalier? it's too expensive...
