I have to upgrade a machine to Ventura and I after I would like to recover from time-machine only the user-data, documents and maybe logins

but nothing from the system files, since I suspect some of them maybe have been causing some problems.

    How would one do that?

Start in recovery-mode, re-install system . then restore your time machine-backup.

Thanks K, I forgot to say I m doing a clean update. I needed to do it to hopefully solve a problem, and I thought upgrades included some system files..

Can it still be done even if I made a clean install, just pick those things?

Edit: luckily it lets you choose when setting up again, I don’t think I had seen that detailed feature.
