Hi guys and gals,
I have a late 2015 iMac 27" that I'd like to connect to my Samsung T9 ssd.
It works when I connect the T9 (usb-c) to the iMac (usb-a), but since I use the T9 as boot disk, I wouldn't mind if it would be a little faster, so I'd like to connect it to the Thunderbolt II connection on the iMac.
Question 1: Will that speed things up?
Question 2: Can I use anything other than the ridiculously expensive Apple adapter plus cable?

if there was a tb to usb gen 3.2 2x2 it would fill out the TB2 2GB of throughput
But there is not.
You would be better served getting a TB3 Drive or enclosure
+ the expensive adapter

Thunderbolt-2 is 10-20 Gbps https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD861LL/A/apple-thunderbolt-cable-20-m. the cable stays at thunderbolt 2 until it hits the adapter, which is then thunderbolt-3 out from the adapter. it will not slow down at a tb-3 input port (the ssd).

doesn't matter, because anything else will be faster than a usb-A. Do I think it will be worth your money? no.
