better buy any cheap usb interface, steinberg ur22 or scarlett 2i2+ will do fine

for unbalanced connections you have ur12 and focusrite solo

 

Another option: A used pair of Alesis Monitor One Mk2 ACTIVE.
Just make sure they're in working condition.
I now have other, better, more expensive monitors but I just can't get rid of them because they're still great for both mixing and listening.
You can find them 2nd hand for about the same price as the AV42, but I promise, they are *much* better and you won't need a subwoofer to get respectable bass response.
They were designed by former JBL engineers, btw.

 

Keep in mind as well most of the Monitors on offer by M-Audio are actually made by ESI but instead of plastic enclosures are made from MDF ( hi pressure partial board ) and are cheaper , I have ESI nEar 5`s for the last 8 years still working and sounding great.

As far as USB interface i recently sold my Motu Ultralite and bought a UR242. for the money its amazing to be hones and much better performance then the Motu. the latency I get from this thing is amazing and with onboard effects tracking is a dream. and it too is very expensive , lots of bang for the buck. Not to mention the Cubase integration as well .
