A virus synths a great choice mate . I own one but I personally use it for Dnb . But there's wide selection of sounds to fit any genre. If it's your first synth do some research to see what other producers in your field use . I only have a few hardware synths but each was worth buying for me . I own a virus xl synth , a novation nova synth , Roland system 1m . There's plenty of good companies out there . It's all down to budget mate . A few suggestions to look at , obviously virus c or ti , Dave smith , Waldorf biofeld or pulse ,novation nova , bass station synth , elektron , arturia min brute or micro brute , Roland system 1/1m or if money's no object the 500 . These are just a few . Like I said watch some videos on YouTube and do some research on your genre before buying one you'll get no use from or regret . Hope this helps you out mate

Virus TI is a really great sounding synth but the USB intergration is a total disaster. I sold mine because I spent way to much time diagnosing crashes and problems in my setup trying to get it to work properly. I don't know if they've had any updates since then to stablise the software though. I would suggest doing research on this before dropping any cash for one - alot of people have similar issues with the Virus.

There are lots of good choices, but it's hard to go wrong with an Access Virus. I can't speak to the USB, but there's nothing forcing you to use it as the old Virii don't even have USB, so standalone works well too. A little menu diving, but lots of knobs on the front make for quick editing.

As mentioned above, Waldorf Blofeld is worth looking at. Pretty inexpensive on the used market too.

Surprised no ones mentioned the the blue and pink korg boxes; emx1 and esx1. These things seriously do Psytrance.
Check out this guy and listen to what the emx1 can do at 3:20. no computer necessary.

No! Dont' listen them virus isn't so great. It would be better to buy Serum or Massive. Also note: Spire is capable to do everything what virus can. so.. if you smart enough your's choice will be spire=) But if you want hardware. hmmm you need unique things like ms2000 - this machine makes awesome psy sounds and this is very cheap
    just look:

at the end some psy-trance presets:

It might be worth spending your hard earned money on outboard processing (500 series?) instead of synths, soft synths are pretty powerful these days you can get pretty thick sounds out of them, but if you really want to go down the outboard synth route, then have a look at the dave smith prophet modules, everyone has a virus TI, get some different sounds

Check this thread I think is the best choice now for less money. It real poly analog for 999$ only. At the same time Virus is VST in the box for more money. I think of buying that Behringer.

I was going to mention this, but then for the price of a ti, you could buy all 3 and have change.

agree with you. ti isn't worth the money. so much hype only. man if you want great synths never chase for names but chase for functionality
