Really? I thought it downloaded msu packages for offline deployment and store them inside UpdateInstaller directory, nothing more.

Cool, might be useful. Do you have more information about it? How much HDD space is taken after installation? Which components were removed?

Wow, those are some significant savings! Ivan's version had 2.85GiB, but a lot of features have been removed and it's not very compatible with updates.
Yes, I would be interested to try out the Extreme.
I assume it's a Professional version based on previous exchange. Is it built on en.US locale/language?

 

I had sort of given up on light versions as so many caused problems that were not immediately apparent until after you have gone to the trouble of installing drivers software etc. I seem to remember that Ivans v2 would only install from disc. I am at the point of a fresh start with my studio. The last time I tried w10 I ended up having to tinker more than my patience would allow but love w7. I wouldn't mind having a crack with the light Extreme version mentioned by The Pirate and also to thank him and all the other contributors to this thread. A must for us dinosaurs.

 

Long live us dinosaurs! It is English and based on Ultimate. You can always downgrade but it would serve no purpose as it is as bare bone as you would find. Gents, check your respective emails.

The pirate, what is the most secure source to download windows lite or extreme lite please ? is the lite standart version the same as the official windows version made for notebooks and other small laptops ? or does it have nothing to do ?

Nothing to do with notebooks or small laptops. This one, it is based on W7 Ultimate. The most secure site to download it? NONE. You can't be serious. Once someone grabs it you never know what they do with it...until the shit hits the fan. I would never send anyone to any website to download any OS that has been tweaked. In fact, any person reading this thread with bad intentions,on his or her mind, may upload a non-kosher OS, provide us with a link (which is prohibited by the rules) and a lot of members would be saying

Open CMD and write :


shutdown -s -t 60 (close the system in 60 seconds)

shutdown -a (cancel)

 

can these Lite versions be slipstreamed with USb drivers so that it can be installed on the latest gen hardware??

 

Yes, there was an official tool released by Microsftin in order to write the ISO of windows into USB.

I always did it like that.
