I am currently taking part on an online composition course and thought I would share my most recent work on here as well let me what you think

Hi guys I hope you are all well, I found this assignment really interesting as it gave me a bit of freedom, where I felt I could just throw shit at a wall and see what stuck, which I found really liberating and I don't think I would have made a tune like this if I didn't approach it this way.
My points of reference where the money beat, which is a type of beat I wouldn't normally use because it is so simple and I usually like more complex beats but what I found using this beat was space and when I was working on my sound design all I had playing was a kick and snare until the very end where I added very simple percussion, which is not the way I normally work.
My second point of reference was Kanye West's Runaway which is a tune I love with a really catchy melody, and the way I figured out how it was played was by using Hookpad which is something that I would encourage all of you guy to use as it is the best bit of music software I have found second to Ableton and it is free, I believe it will change the way I make music from this point on. My third point of reference is the Tao, which is a book that I love and means the world to me, I took a verse from it and used it to make some lyrics for this tune, I don't think they are fully resolved but I was fun to be in that creative space where I felt in the mood to go in that direction (edited)

I like the distortion on several elements on the track, the song overall is really good, but the vocals aren't that great.
