The Voice of Love

In memory of Yvonne, a gutsy woman
who died of cancer many years ago.

"Come" said the voice of Love.
"No! No!" said the voice of Reason,
"I haven't finished yet!"

"Fly" said the voice of Love.
"But what of the chains that bind me?"
said the voice of Thought.

"Be still" said the voice of Love.
"How can I be?" I said,
"When all of me is filled with grief
of earth and soul and us".

"Then let the tears
flow from you as a river"
said the voice of Love,
"And cleanse your spirit
so that we may rise
into the night".

I wept!
And the forests, oceans,
creatures and stars
sang together as we flew
on joyous wings.
