So, I decided to upload to this forum another track of mine, written for The Masque, an indie film which will be released in early 2022. Enjoy the melody :)

If you had created this 10 years ago using some basic Kontakt orchestral and Taiko libraries, then I would say Well Done.

But I've no idea whether there is simply a 16 bar midi loop pushed through a few Kontakt presets from Action Strikes and Action Strings with possibly some Elisyon thrown in for good measure too? :dunno:

Thank you for your feedback. I don't own the Action Strings and Elysion libraries and therefore I couldn't use them in this melody even if I really wanted, heh. As for a "16 bar midi loop", there were only like two loop presets out of all 16 presets which have been used in a melody. The music track does sound quite simple, but mostly because it was done so on a request of the director I'm working with on a film (keep in mind, I write almost all my movie tracks in accordance with his instructions), and it fits the fight scene very well. I am currently working on another action track that will sound much more complex than this one :)

    It sounds very good.
I just listen to tracks and don't spend my time tryin' to find "that Nexus preset" or "that loop/Kontakt" one. I don't know if I'd have been so kind as @Magnifai with my reply. Nice work :winker::wink:

    Ok... this is my point....

I created a new session in my DAW, loaded up those libraries I described above,

For each library, I picked the very first presets I came across.

After 20 minutes, I stopped and pressed "Export to WAV".

I don't know how long yours took to do, but mine required no skill or time whatsoever.

This is a quite decent track indeed, but as a listener I would say that it seems to sound unfinished, in particular I would spend some time on mixing and mastering if I were you. As for comparing your track with mine, I don't see any significant correspondences, except for percussion maybe, no offence.

I sense what you are trying to say and I quite agree: the OP track is not unique, the author does not say anything personal but follows pre-packaged patterns, already listened to hundreds of times. It is an exercise in style, although very well executed, but it is aesthetic without content
Unfortunately this is the problem of the almost totality of the artistic product: when suddenly a composer has a good idea, all the others follow the path, saying the same thing, simulating that they also conceived that same idea. When a form of communication becomes "genre" it loses its initial content, becoming a clichee. This also happened for the Cinematic genre

@Magnifai I know my review may sound harsh to you, try to see my words as motivational, try to find the message within yourself and rely less on what others composers have already said

I understand what you are trying to say. I am aware of the composers using pre-packaged patterns in their music which may irritate many audio listeners, but as I said earlier in my first reply to Stuck in the 80s, this music track was written in accordance with director's instructions, it was written as a more-or-less simple piece of music on purpose. This melody wasn't written for an epic dragon knight battle, heh, it was written for a scene where two dudes beat up each other in the street. I have music tracks that sound more complex and melodic than the one posted on this thread, as an example I can show you this music track which I wrote for a documentary a year ago, you can also check this out https://audiosex.pro/threads/made-a-fantasy-video-game-music-track.61700/
So, it's safe to say for me that my discography is diverse and I take everything into account when I write my music. Nevertheless, I still should note that I put a lot of effort into making the "Urban Fight" track, many presets, risers and chords were used to create a dystopian atmosphere (you can even notice that in the beginning) and I very much limited myself in the use of loops when I was working on the track. Still, thank you very much for your feedback :)
