You might be right. Maybe from a different perspective. When rappers first started rappin they didn't say everyone is sounding the same, they said this shit is called hip-hop. Maybe this style of indie girl should be recognized as a subgenre. I like the name Indie Girl.

I remember working with a girl who speaks with that voice. She was a cute and sweet girl, but awful stuff to hear that voice....
I noticed that most of the music my daughter listens to includes girls singing like this.

 

What I find surprising is that very mainstream music (regardless of the quality) is defined as indie. Not that is a big deal but I find it in the pop category because pop is, well, mainstream by definition. Then again, this kind of "modern Indie" is completely unknown to me, hence the very different generation feeling.
I know technically everything but classic, ethnic, opera can be considered popular music but we all understand what I mean.

Bad jokes overrules most of what I say or write. Well, not in work meetings or burials...
