Me too, lol. Discovered the far left of the FM dial in NYC at the beginning of the 70's. 'Alternative' 'Indie' was true in both name and spirit for a good 15 year run or so. AFAIC, by the time the 90's came along, the alternative and indie name had been fully co-opted by mainstream corporation media and the popular culture.

Probably one of the few good things I can attribute to the existence of broadband internet, is that I can listen to the greatest radio station on the planet and what I consider a good runner up after being out of their broadcast ranges for a good 15 years or so.... WFMU and WZBC. Heh

@mr.personality Exactly! Indie became a genre with a sound in the UK in the 80s, and not always related to independent labels!
Btw, "the beginning of the 70s" was before Xup was born, but he always sounds like he likes to feel older than his age! And to mention it.
