I don't know this is funny or sad.

All these strange knobs and GUIs on the left and on the right side just a handful of keys. I wonder why no one likes the right side and there is only a cat next to it. She is probably taking a selfie with it, maybe she loves them more. Untitled.png

A good example of how music doesn't necessarily express anything specific is the pasticcio opera. A pasticcio opera is composed by piecing together existing pieces from different composers, often without them having worked together. It's akin to a musical patchwork, combining parts from various sources and scenarios.
Even famous composers like Vivaldi, Handel, Johann Christian Bach, Gluck, and others created pasticcio operas. In these compositions, arias from different sources and times were often used, requiring alterations to the original lyrics to fit the new libretto (the opera's script).
This implies that a particular aria could retain all its musical elements while being assigned to convey significantly different moods, emotions, or impressions than those originally intended by its composer. And it does so successfully due to lyrics only.

How to use and work with notes and the philosophy of selection of notes matter.

Midi or Real instruments are secondary concerns.:winker:

It can be concluded that popular music has fallen into the hands of musically illiterate people to an unprecedented extent. Like oral tradition, today's music is adopted by observing currently existing role models and imitating them. People acquire their knowledge of music by sporadically coming across something that impresses them in the flood of sounds that surround them from all sides. Thus, musical fashion becomes their main source of information and musical education.
But fashion is a major contributor to waste. Fast fashion's cycle creates pressure to constantly create new music. So any new musical product ends up discarded very fast. Fashion requires speed; therefore, its emphasis on cheap production leads to the perpetuation of stereotypes, degradation of taste, and encourages a culture of disposable music as an unimportant side effect of life. Opposing fashion often ends up in exotic and eccentric music, with no real inspiration, which is more an expression of rebellion or defiance, or a way of self-emphasis in the immensity of fashion, than a product of true creativity.

Pop songs generally refer to the songs which most of the people currently enjoy listening to.

These songs are usually the ones topping the charts.

Contrary to popular belief, pop songs do not have a genre. From alternative rock to hip hop to EDM, pop songs keep emerging from all styles of music.

What separates a pop song from the rest of the songs in that genre is its “catchiness”, and this comes from various fundamental aspects of the song.

Simple yet effective top line melodies.

Strong interesting grooves to keep the listener hooked on.

Lyrical content which most of the listeners can connect with.

    Addictive Top-line Melody.

Top line melodies can either be used as instrumental hooks or catchy chorus vocals.

The melody must be 'easy to digest'.

It is often found that chorus melodies are higher in the octave compared to the verses. This makes the chorus sound bigger and powerful. This effect is further enhanced by using heaver instrumentation compared to the verses. This change in dynamics creates a form of excitement and keeps the listener hooked until the end of the song.

When vocals are present in the chorus, they add a new dimension to the song and give it a purpose and direction.

Simple lyrics and a strong idea can carry a lot of weight and make a powerful impression on the listener.

    Percussive Phrasing of Words.

Almost all pop songs are built upon simple, strong rhythmic elements which, along with the vocals, make a strong groove. Many times, pop song grooves are built in a way that enhance the vocal impact. Usually, a strong bass line and punchy drums form the basis for this.

In many contemporary pop songs, the groove is also implied by various guitar strumming patterns. This also does the job of harmonizing the vocals well, thus reducing the number of instruments required for the song.

It is very important for a listener to connect with a song he is listening to. Commonly used themes in pop songs are about relationships (happy, sad, failure, etc.), excitement and joy, finding who we are, desires and aspirations, etc. Since these are feelings that almost everyone feels at some point in their lives, writing songs based on these topics has a good chance of connecting with a larger audience.

The emotions that come through the lyrics must feel genuine for the listeners. That makes it personal and helps them connect instantly.

In pop songs influenced by EDM which is the vast majority, you can almost immediately notice that the kinds of plucks, pads, chords, basses and leads that are used within the production sound very polished. Even when you listen to acoustic pop songs you can observe how the acoustic elements are always very well recorded, warm yet crisp and punchy. Not just the musical elements but also the vocals are very well processed which gives the song 'modern qualities'.

There is a lot of repetition of certain sections of the song that makes the song stick in the listener’s mind. This is what makes the song “catchy”.

Pop music does not require a traditional understanding of music.

Psychology, beautiful face, beautiful body, body movements, up-to-date clothes, sociology, knowledge of the current culture, modern sound combinations, etc. are needed.

Making pop music is a team effort and not done by one artist alone. Many people have to work together and each of them have information in different fields to be able to present a complete work.

Having music information is the last thing that is needed, and even sometimes it is not necessary and may even be considered a barrier.

This song doesn't have any of the characteristics of a pop song so no chance to hit charts:

Hitting charts and music quality have nothing in common. The 'catchy' songs that stick in the listener’s mind... - If something is viral, it's most probably unhealthy.

Isn't that the point of having and using a forum for people to express their own ideas?

Digital production is sedentary, touchy, complicated, too nuanced, and polished, so it misses the raw energy of older recordings. The prevalence of technology greatly lost real human communication and contact with real instruments and playing them, so it lost human touch in music production. We should revisit older music and maybe rediscover what we had lost. Of course, older people have a tendency to treat the music of the past with nostalgia and compare it favorably to contemporary music because they were more optimistic and energetic when they were young.
Unlike the old days the surge of low-quality music flooding the market is a direct consequence of mass digital production, coupled with the social media's fixation on metrics like number of views, likes, and chart positions. This emphasis tends to prioritize simplified or catchy music over more intricate or innovative compositions.

Currently there's no living creature on earth that knows how to work with notes. If all people gather around and do whatever they know and ponder the whole time day and night for over 50 years, the equation of notes will not be solved. A very big secret, a part of life that cannot be easily deciphered.

@The King conclusively proves that mescalin and DMT should not be taken simultaneously - especially when posting online...

Well, faced with the saddest fact about music, all we have left is to transmute the bitterness distilled in this thread and just laugh at so much crap said here.

As a child, someone must have told "the king" that his snare sucked, thus setting things in motion that would one day culminate in mediocre troll posts on the internet
