I really like the drums in this , does anyone know a kit that matches these sounds. I especially like the kick and huge snare at 2.07 to 2.20. Nice tom sounds aswell. I have the abbey roads modern drums library in kontakt.

you can use practically ANY snare sample. The gated reverb is the key to achieve 80s sound.

Ha! Would not have guessed a steingberger!! sounding great here!

OP: Here's another guy who wonders: https://maubrecht.wordpress.com/2017/06/02/loving-your-love/

"...His take on it was that the snare sounds like its tuned pretty high (just below the choking point), muffled with a zero ring, and the wires are pretty tight. The rest of the sound Mike believes is a gated reverb or gated room mic that’s been overdriven a little bit. I think he’s on to something."

Here's a different sonic look at the snare:

Thanks for all the responses , I didn't think a song from the eighties that I had never heard of two weeks ago would generate this much interest. I will look into the 80s abbey road drummer and the gated snare reverb technique.

Yeah, the snare sounds like a pretty tight wooden 14x5.5" with a gated room reverb (or real room). I really like the sound of the whole drumkit and the room.
