I rushed to buy Vic 20, at the end I never liked it, even at those time.
C64 was better, but I dreamed something like... today, yeah I'm pretty satisfied with today computers.

    Heh, innocent times. ;)

Last year I got a nephew a Miyoo Mini plus handheld games console for xmas. To set it up properly, i then downloaded/installed the excellent Onion linux distro which was put together by enthusiasts of this console - along with a mega 64gb retro games pack - and proceeded to have a ton of fun playing manic miner, galaxians etc,... so much so that i immediately purchased another one as a xmas pressie to myself... and i've gotta say it's probably the best £70 i've spent these last 12 months!

I used to type in those C64 programs electronic musician magazine would publish back then. One they had was patch generator for the Casio CZ101 I used. Even with my then perfect eyesight it was a bit painful trying to read all those lines of code correctly. Then I moved on to Atrai 1040ST with Steinberg Pro 24 sequencer

That thing is so much a c64 as a Raspi400.
Speaking of which: I can very much recommend getting a real breadbox (wait, no, I prefer the later c models) OR: A Raspi 400.
//Edit// And by the way, I'm very disappointed.
When that bloke was like "I'm gonna buy the brand an reissue a c64, everybody thought it would be something like those speccy clones, real chips and where not possible a place in like armsid or whatever. Now he comes out with an emulation based, C64 maxi like abomination, something that already exists.
    Publicity stunt of some youtuber.

    I WAS WRONG!
I read AMD CPU and thought it's an x86 system running an emulator. That's not the case, it is an FPGA implementation based on an FPGA from AMD. That's good. yes there would be ways to make one discrete with new parts, but you can't do that on an industrial level. You never know what year/month what part is not available anymore. And they even have impemented sockets for real sids.
So, sorry, my bad, it wrote something before knowing shit... That's something I should not have done.
And comparing that FPGA version with a raspi: An FPGA is a programmable chip, that will behave like the chip it is meant to be. So an FPGAs timing and everything will be identical to the original. That means: While my raspi has a very low latency of 16ms for sound output (for gaming that IS low) the FPGA versions latency will most likely be a s low as the original.
I don't know how long the electrons take to run through a real sid
