    So,

Review section deserves a what i deem as useful review. This is stuff i use regularly, or sometimes for specific problems/solutions and such. They are in no specific order but are all used to some degree and at some point and i deem them worthy of use personally.

Make note i am OSX. Make note i am also a Producer and Recording Engineer (mix, master and recording). So my purposes of these reflect those.

I will organize them by instruments, effects, and programs (DAW or outside apps).

    Instruments:

Instrument [Synth] (these are in order of favorite to least, Most used to least):

1.Omnisphere (this is my go to synth. I love the sounds i get out of it)
    2.Massive
    2.Z3ta+
    3.Reaktor (tied)
    3.Kontakt (tied)
    3.Absynth (tied)
    4.Sylenth
    4.Serum
Last Place: Zebra, Diva, Ace, FM8

    Instrument [Drums]:

    1.Maschine
    2.Battery
Last Place: SliceX (when it works better)

    Instrument [Other/Weird Shit]:

    1.Cosmos Saturn (love it)
    2.Iris
    Last Place: Egoist

Instruments i havent tried but would like to:

-Trillian (not enough computer space currently)
    -Omnisphere 2!

    Favorite Developer of Instruments:

    Native Instruments and Spectrasonics (tied)

Now for effects (or atleast what Logic X considers effects):

    Eq's:

    (Ties)
    1.Sonible
    1.Izotope Ozone/Nectar
    1.Fab Filter Q2
    2.Waves SSL Channel

    Comps/Limiters:

    1.Izotope Ozone/Nectar
    1.LSR/Lindell 7X
    1.Waves L2
    2.Cytomic The Glue
    3.FabFilter
    3.Waves CLA/SSL

    Reverb:

    1.112Db Redline Reverb
    1.Lexicon PCM/LXP/MPX etc
    2.2C Audio stuff
    3.LiquidSonics Reverberate

    Assorted Other Stuff:

    -Xfer Cthulhu
    -Xfer LFOTool
    -Cosmos Saturn (again, its awesome)
    -Lowender
    -CableGuys VolumeShaper

    Audio Repair:

-Izotope RX (in nearly every instance)
    -FabFilter (in some instances)

Havent tried but would like to:

    Universal Audio

    Top Developers for Effects:

    Izotope, Fabfilter, Waves (selective though)

Programs that are used outside a DAW (or are a DAW):

    Daw:

    Logic X

    Instruments:

    Native Instruments Komplete
    Izotope Iris

    Audio Repair:

    Izotope RX

    Mastering:

    Izotope Ozone

    Audio File converting and such:

    Wavepad Masters Suite

    Other/Old:

    [Secret Tool i love]
Peak Pro (very old, but was useful back in the day)

I decided to add equipment as well:

Blue Bottle with select caps (the good ones)
    ISA110
    SSL Board
    StudioLive Board
    Lexicon LXP, MPX's, 480L with Larc v3
    Shure KSM44, SM's
    Maschine
    Akai MPKs
    Sennheiser MD421-II
    Korg MicroKorg, Radias Rack

    Would like to try:

    Universal Audio Rack
    Virus 2
    ORIGINAL MOOG!
    Macbeth Modular Systems

I think this is fairly complete. I also have physical racks and such. Some of which are emulated by some of the above plugins (vintage Lexicon racks that i love, original ISA110, etc). Maybe someone will find use in this, maybe not. But it shows that you dont exactly need to be a plugin leach. But try demos and experiment and see what you like, delete the rest, support the devs, enjoy the products.

  3. Thanks for your list and the time spent compiling it for us. When I perused the EQ section I noticed that you had put into the 1st slot Sonible. Well, I had seen it offered for testing earlier this month on the sister site, and because I am doing a complete reassessment of my work-flow and parring down to the bare essentials, overlooked it as just another EQ in a sea awash with a plethora of similar choices. How I could have been more wrong. You piqued my curious nature, and as I watched a few videos from the developer was both very impressed and surprised at what I saw, and without this post would not have realized it's greatness in what it can do as it would have slipped away and under my radar. Thanks again.

Of course. Sometimes someone elses input helps in making worthwhile decisions. Especially in a market over-saturated with some crappy plugins, and plugins that just dont compare to others.

For EQs I liked this about my top choices:

Sonible has so many possibilities and does it effectively. My biggest complaint is that it does not show a visual change in waveform and does not display the active sounds waveform. Which is why i love Izotope stuff and Fabfilter. Im a very visual user. I enjoy seeing and hearing a difference. Sonible lacked the visual, but i still use it alot so it was tied for First most used EQ alongside Fabfilter and Izotope.

The plugins and such i selected i actually used, purchased etc after demos and testing and research.

Its always good to do a re-evaluation of your work flow. Sometimes you find things to change and adjust. Simplicity and less plugins make easier and cleaner mixes.

Nice tasty selection - I too really like Waves' SSL channel strip, though I'm alarmed at times at the delay that Waves' plugins induce on even very fast PT rigs. And yes, I LOVE iZotope's products, especially Rx.
