Could not agree more. Thank you Olymoon for speaking out against meaningless argumenting in legit threads that they should be closed.

If a violation of a rule is found in an otherwise legit thread, that actual violating content should be reported/addressed. No reason to call for a sledgehammer and close legit threads simply because of individual arguments or different opinions.

 

Yes, and we really need member's contribution, sending clear reports, to do that because it's impossible for us to read everything here.

 

Here is a helpful trick regarding ideas,

Anytime your working on a song part and you have a chord you can quickly build a scale with upper tones for it.

Say Cmaj chord CEG
So this trick is for the 1,3and5 you add in notes a whole step above each of those 3 notes .

So C major 7 is CEGB
For 135 add whole tones
DF#A
Last step add all notes up
CDEF#GAB ( in this case C Lydian from G major

.

How about you have a Dmin7 chord
DFAC
Do take 1,3,5 add whole tones above them
E G B
Then add up your notes
DEFGABC D Dorian ( ii chord in C major


Let's say you have F7 chord
FACD#
Add the new notes Above 1,3,5
GBD
Add together
FGABCDD#(Eb)F. F Lydian dominant
( 4th mode of C melodic minor)

Once you can use that building scale out of every chord you have, you can use what's called "triad pairs" technique to give you ways of using the scale you might otherwise not think to.
Here is cool thing you can do with triad pairs.

Let's say you are on a c Maj chord.
You first build up the scale adding whole tones above 1,3,5
DF#A
Now think of as two triads
CEG, DF#A

Here your inversions.
CEG,DF#A
EGC,F#AD
GCE,ADF#

Here what you can do with it ( long c Maj chord rings)
Play
C E G A F# D C E G A F# D C

Inversion
E G C D A F# E G C D A F# E
Inversion
G C E F# D A G C E F# D A

You can do so many things

C up E down D up F# up A down G

Or
C up E up G down F# down D down A down G
Or
CEGCEGF#DAF#DAG
Try it out so many combinations and it's all fits over top a c major chord ringing out .
