    system : PC win7 x64
    daw : Ableton Live 9.5 x64
vst : Black Rooster Audio The Canary

It totally screwed up my Ableton Live 9.5
Im still stuck after i uninstalled Canary, uninstalled Live and installed Live again
I could not even fix it with the install program (option REPAIR was not available, so i had to uninstall)

I'm still stuck, i need infos on how to uninstall the licence manager. (which is probably the cause of it)

I do not recommand to use this vst until further testing is done.

when i want to uninstall a plugin completly i normally use revo uninstaller pro...

the unsinstall process gives you the normal uninstall procedures... and after the uninstall they give you an advanced option so you can remove extra "hidden " files possibly....

and after the unsintall process i normall run another program... ccleaner... ccleaner open i select reg... and do a basic scan and exclude any possible error or issues that the program shows you...

after that im good to go... maybe is usefull info...

otherwise stay away from that nasty canary.. lol:drunks:

    merry Christmas sue

What i have done and didnt said :
    -CCleaner:done
-i also checked reg for rooster and canary entries.
-Deleted a shortcut (to BRA site + HDD id) located at root of C:/
-Deleted folder "users/$user$/AppData/Roaming/Black Rooster Audio" with a xml file in it

I'm pretty sure its related to licence manager

i had a similar problem with another vst... but i don't remember exactly what i've done to have a clean setup back and working...

i think if something like that happens in my system i would probably reinstall the plugin and run the revo uninstaller pro and unsinstall with the advanced search... this adavanced feature can catch some hidden or maybe problematic files or archieves...

not sure if it will work...

i did this last step while writing this tread.
after that, i ran CCleaner again, and reboot, everything seems to be back to normal.

I'll look into Revo Uninstaller when i can
    thanks.

That's been my experience with a LOT of free plugins. I wont put any on my system anymore.

Actually there are a couple of things to think about in future.

    1) Have a separate computer that you use just for testing purposes
    or
    2) Put 'Shadow Defender' on your computer :- http://www.shadowdefender.com/
That's what I use now. It takes a snapshot of your computer when you boot up. You can do what you like with it as absolutely nothing stays after you reboot. Even registry changes go.
Unless you choose to keep them that is.

Unfortunately even max devices could screw you. The other day RockBottom device screwed my project.

I don't use max devices either for that very same reason. I hope you managed to salvage at least something from it?

Nope. Fortunately I was at the beginning so I've lost only one awesome drone sound that I made.
