Well, having a working schedule of sorts helps me. I make music every day and if I don't make any I at least "fiddle", making sounds and practice playing and improvisation, harmonies... there's always something useful to do. Music is also helping me stay relatively sane... [as in all things being relative - Einstein :)] Making and listening to music is like a therapy and it definitely has healing properties.

Since I've established this working schedule I feel generally better. No matter the result. Just being involved in music helps. There's a saying that goes something like "the result is not important, the process [of being creative in this case] of trying and succeeding or failing, no matter, is what counts". I like that shit. :)

For example, yesterday I inadvertently put up a ~1 hour electronic music show for neighbours, just improvising. I felt "in the zone" so I kept playing. I felt in pretty good spirits afterwards. I felt a kind of relief - "I still have it!" feeling, you know? I remembered the good old Raving days when I was doing it on stage. Mishaps would happen and I had to improvise. Sometimes good, sometimes less good, always great and helpful in the end. ;) Try doing that sometimes - improvising a "show", it helps with finding new ideas.

Sometimes I record/sample something weird. Maybe a phone, radio, TV, neighbours, my various speakers [speaking through a '56 speaker], dog, cat, trashmen throwing bins around, storm... your surroundings is an immense source of fresh [or less fresh lol] sounds. Investing in some cheap gear and playing with it is also inspirational. Just don't let the GAS get you!

    There, some more advices! :)
