I can't think of anything I don't like about this. I'm even happy about its boutique size. It can sit at my right hand at my desk. I have to get up to play my Minimoog. Sorry Moog, you might feel a little ignored soon.

 

You cannot compare this to moog this sounds plastic like the other boutiques

 

It must be great to just say everything is shit and walk about with your head held high, filled with self righteousness, believing that you have knowledge of facts that you cannot possibly have in your possession.

 

Maybe slight difference, nuances. But who cares nowadays? Can you describe analog sound consists of? Can you measure warmth and analogness? How much does it sound analogly?
Imho you will fail AB Testing comparison of Moog vs hardware clones vs plugins..
It is like almost all top pro engineers from gearslutz can't hear difference analog vs digital, only after answers of where is analog and where is digital all guys says analog is analog, digital is digital, but before answers revealed they almost all fail test. And try not to agree.

 

with Studio Electronics involved i think you are of the mark, not comparible to the other boutiques either, a must have imho

 

I must say that in the roland video it sounds way better and moogier than in the hands on video that realitybytez posted.

 

nice one @E.C.R this guy is giving me gear fever ...it might not be as good as a real minimoog.. but definitely has some balls

vs $3500 for the model D ... sort of a no brainer...this thing has enough quality to qualify


then again I'm getting a gear-on for that tape machine too... lol is it a Teac ?

actually it is a joint Japanese and English piece of hardware and is loosely based on SE electronics SE1X so you couldnt be more wrong

Have faith in the craftsmanship of the Chinese people. Roland does.

 

Craftmanship of Chinese people are no less than equal of every other nation in world. I say they are one of best if they have proper qualification. The question you should ask, is problems with QC, which is most of the time responsibility of a brand.

 

yeah and China has a big problem with QC as most of it is carried out by.. Chinese...
it ranges from shoddy workmanship.. down to outright counterfeit.. even counterfeit baby formula that killed infants in country...

so @Ted Smithton does have quite a valid point on that score....

Yeah and who is exploits poor labor legislation in China? Right...Companies from all over the world. Brands who want to save at the expense of poor control and cheap labor. Something that respectable brands should never do as with that, they help maintain a status quo for cheap but poor working environment in China. Not to mention we still pay full price for that product as product is still build in more wealthy countries. Poor craftmanship has noting to do with people itself(apart from bad persons in leading positions) most of the time, but with all the rest. You can find proper Chinese companies that are competitive as hell and can beat every european, american or whatever product in craftmanship, yeah you will pay for that, but still less as they are in better position to get lower prices for raw materials.

 

not hard to be competitive when you are stealing billions in intellectual property every year... and simply churning out your own
version... A Chinese woman I knew personally .. told me one time, that cheating to Chinese is the same as intelligence..

have seen this borne out time and again in many situations....
