Hey guise. I'd like to recreate an organ sound that I've heard in a lot of commercial music over my years (including classic rock from before my time), including the tiny snippet. I guess it could be called a gospel kinda organ, but it's not a pipe organ. I'm guessing it's a B3 with a Leslie, but it's just a guess. How can I approach recreating it? Thank you!

Attached is a clip I took from a T-Pain song from 12 years ago.

Yes. It's a Hammond B3 respectively an emulation. There are lots of these from Air Music, Native Instruments, Genuine Software, GG Blue (?), IK Multimedia (in Sampletank) and some others. And there are lots of sampled B3s ...

Acoustic Samples B5 is the best Hammond emulator in my opinion. The real magic is in emulating a Leslie, which is a toss up. Ik Multimedia’s Leslie is okayish. UVI makes one too.. but it’s always a dissapointment once you’ve played the real thing… Some software get the psychoacoustic properties close, but drop the ball on the amp distortion. And vise versa.

    Thank you!

Thank you! A quick search shows that the Acoustic Samples B5 is a UVI Falcon library. Falcon alone looks to be $350. I'm just a hobbyist haha. Logic Pro has a B3 and Leslie emulator included. I'll have to try that one first.

The B3 Arturia is a great organ, recommended. I made a screen recording for you to listen to

There is a sister site/r2r version of Soundfingers Heritage Organ v2. It sounds nice, but it is only 50mb in size.

IK Multimedia has the capability to be the best of the bunch by far (for me) but its presets tend to be lackluster. You have to crawl under the hood and tweak a little. But when its right it stands up in a mix.
50 people will have 50 opinions on this though. It's as wide open as guitar, every organist will be after a personal sound and look to different tools to get it. You'll never get a consensus.

I indeed found this one. It's lightweight as you said and I'm playing around with it.

my dad has a great condition b3 with leslie. the leslie seems like ... impossible to me for someone to recreate, its such a weird effect especially cause like at least my dads is placed off in the corner so yeah its this odd stereo effect through the air. maybe just the room,or i'm an idiot i don't really play around with it very much.

Thank you for all your help! I finished the little project I wanted the B3 for.

I ended up using Heritage Organ which @clone suggested. It's only 50MB and actually opened up with that screaming gospel sound already. It just turned out to be too easy not to do. :)

Here's my rework of T-Pain feat. Wiz Khalifa and Lily Allen "5 O'Clock" (it's over a decade old). I pulled the vocal from the album cut and one thing it also pulled was some faint B3 stuff. I added a B3 over the faint B3 and I think it came out okay. It's at 1:04 and 1:39 (and more times throughout).

I've never posted a video link here. I doubt this will be embedded the way I want it to be. It's just a regular MP4 video that will play in your browser

The one time that I got to play thru a Leslie it was like...What the fuck just happened to my DNA! It can't be properly emulated, it must be experienced.

Best emulation in my opinion is VB3-II, plus it is not expensive. Of course the real thing through a Leslie is an auditive sensation you cannot emulate. In a mix, however, you won't be able to distinguish between the emulation and a real B3 or A100.
I do own an A100 plus Leslie 147 but when recording I prefer a good clone or emulation. It's much easier to handle.

Emulating a Leslie speaker is easy, you just need a computer chair that rotates.
