I've heard this sound in techno mostly. I can prolly figure out the delay and reverb settings with some minor effort, but I've no idea how to make the synth sound itself. I'd love to watch a tutorial on this, but I don't know what it's called in order to Google it. I use Serum, Diva, and sometimes Spire. I'm hoping I can recreate it in one of those.

The attached sound is from a sample pack. I really don't want to use a loop, though.

I am sure you can do this with any of the synths you have pretty easily. I think it is 2 notes, one played a semi-tone down or so. Then a delay plugin. Almost like a ping pong but maybe narrowed in the stereo field a little more than normal. There is a little distortion or something to give it a little edge. The first note is smoother and probably a little lower velocity. That could also be the result of a fade in applied to the sample.

Fabfilter Twin 3 might be good for this sort of sound also, but I'd use the virus. Do you not have dsp56300 emulator? Not that you need it for this sound. It's what you get by feeding 2 osc's (one of them detuned quite a lot to taste) into a distortion. If you set this up, you'll see how changing the detune amount causes the distortion to react differently and you'll be able to dial in many variations of the sound. There's also the option of tweaking the envelope on the 2 osc's, and on top of it all, giving it a separate filter envelope doing something with high resonance (because that also elicits some interesting colors from the distortion).

Thank you! After reading your replies, I was still a bit lost. Not your fault. I stumbled across a link on Reddit for this tutorial and it got me close. Plus I learned a little about Serum and FM synthesis. I need to work at it some more.
