oh dear, even a second hand pair of SL1200 cost a pretty penny, cheapest i've ever seen was a pair for £1200.

It’s believable that the original SL-1200 and SL-1200MK2 tooling was lost – but what about the MK6, developed less than ten years ago, and in manufactured until October 2010. Did those manufacturing tools go straight into the dumpster?

So, they lost the "tools".. come on, don't be so hard on them. They will be hard on your wallet

Yeah sure, lost tools, as if stuff like that was forged by dwarfs in magic dungeons.
And even if they lost the cad files, including backups, you can take the workpiece as a starting point to recreate the tools. We're talking simple injection molding, casting and forging here. In terms of production methods, 1210s are low-lowest tech.

 

agree.. but, you know - the lower the tech, the lower the chance something goes wrong ;P
