Synth/cold wave/post punk - how to?

    So i'm mainly an instumentalist guy when it comes to composing but recently I really got into the cold wave genre, bands like Kælan Mikla, Drab Majesty, late-ish The Cure, She Past Away and so on. I'd like to play around and try to recreate the vibe but I don't really know where to start. Anyone can recommend any vst's/libraries that would be a good starting point?
