Timebombs themselves are not related to internet. When they trigger is when the protection can do more things.
For instance, the Fabfilter's timebombs triggered with no internet connection.

oh ok i didnt know that i thought timebombs was because of the vst is connected to the internet some way or some how and is trying to call home like E.T. ...

An observation I've made in Reaper...
The plugin retains the deactivation of the "Auto check for updates" setting, until more than one instance is added to the project.

Correction, the 2nd time the plugin is introduced or added to the project triggers the relentless resetting of the setting.
Example: Removing and adding the instrument will retrigger the constant resetting of the option.
- But when I save the project, and re-open it, and test, the problem is no longer there, maybe because it was added only once (with the project opening).

i can make it until 3 or 4 hrs max, after that i get timebombed

 

could not get it to work after like 10000 tries. even after unchecking the auto-updates, it checks back on and i get timebombed.

 

Yeah you're not alone, i couldnt get it to reliably work on my end either, regardless of what i did. lol

 

"Integrity check" tells you that the application is checking itself for any modification. If it can detect that it has been patched, you are not going to fix that yourself.

 

Thats what i figured. The problem is that i cant get it to stop checking itself, although i tried.

 

probably a timer function that begins when the plugin loads. When timer hits 0 (or whatever interval) it runs self-check. It probably "knows" exactly where to look for signs of patching, because the developer provides very obvious "spots" to break/insert at, right down the garden path. but it still runs efficiently, because it is not really checking the entire thing. That developer knows some tricks. The function that lets you drop a wav onto it for sample analysis is pretty cool. I still might buy it.

 

Yeah this is where my mind went to, the guys clearly very very clever so I imagine his protection will be as well. Just from the little while I've messed with the genopatch functionality it's definitely worth the money imo

 

just bought some hardware and where i live, 150 USD is almost one months salary so buying it wont be an option for a while, but it is definitely worth it! About the time bomb mechanism, whenever i close the window in my DAW and reopen it, the auto-update is turned, on no matter how long it stays unopened (tried spamming it with unchecking, closing and instantly reopening it). Probably gonna wait until a price drop or something.

AFAIK for some DAWs like FL Studio, it uses a process under a different name for the VST host/bridge. I recommend looking into your firewall to see if there's anything in there that relates to FL or Image-Line. I know for a fact that the bridge process is named "ilbridge.exe" so turn that off if you ever gave it permission.
