The Berlin software developer Soft Computing publishes the software emulation Synthcussion in cooperation with Domenico Cipriani (LunarBytes). And of course, as the name and appearance suggest, this plug-in is intended to bring the Syncussion SY-1 from Pearl into our DAW, which dates back to the late seventies. Unfortunately, "only" macOS users have the pleasure....

Soft Computing Synthcussion is an old drum machine
The Pearl Syncussion SY-1 drum machine is a "secret weapon" for many electronic music producers. The compact synthesizer is of course only available in hardware form on the second-hand market. And there you have to shell out over 2500 euros for the box. But there are also a few vendors that offer hardware replicas (maybe there will be a Behringer clone soon?). On the software side, the whole thing looks simpler. Synthcussion by Soft Computing is such an emulation in plug-in form.

Soft Computing VST pricing and dates
Soft Computing Synthcussion is now available here on the manufacturer's BandCamp website for 10 British pounds (about 12 euros). With a monthly subscription of 7 British pounds you can use all of the developer's products and stream the music on offer. The plug-in runs on macOS (with M1 support) as VST3 and AU in 64 bit. A demo version and a user manual are not available.

Behringer has announced that its upcoming clone/replica of the iconic Pearl Syncussion SY-1 analog drum Synthesizer is ready for production.

There is never rest at Behringer. The company is constantly working on new products. The most recent project is a replica/clone of the Pearl Syncussion SY-1, an analog drum Synthesizer from the late 1970s. I published news about this new project in July.

Today the Behringer social media team announced that the Syncussion SY-1 replica is ready for production.

    Behringer Syncussion Production Update
Like the original, it will have 6 oscillator modes per channel and is capable of creating a wide range of sounds. From the classic 70’s disco “peeoww” to tight bells, thunderous Kick drums and Gnarly Bass sounds.

Half a year after the announcement, the product is ready for production. It is not yet known when it will be available from international dealers. The current chip shortage has resulted in delivery bottlenecks and longer waiting times. But according to the Facebook post, Behringer has secured the chips for production.

The awesome Syncussion is now getting ready for production. It took us three revisions to nail the sound – but now it’s there. We also secured the chips for this product so we should be fine.

We’re sorry that shipping products is taking much longer than expected, but the chip shortages are very challenging and the way it looks, 2022 won’t see much improvement. Be assured we’re working really hard to get your products delivered as quickly as we possibly can. Thanks for your amazing support.
