Keep in mind that neither of them will allow you to sync them with MTC (midi time code), or use MMC (midi machine control); for sync or mmc start/stop. Only Midi clock.

What @clone suggested is the cheapest way to get MIDI, I've had a similar god knows what brand cable for years and it works fine.

That's only half the struggle though. While a 707 can sync to MIDI clock it works better when it's the master, and even then it can be a bit weird with the tempo.

But it will not send SYNC24 and as a TB303 doesn't do MIDI which you need to sync the 303 unless it's the master. I used a Kenton box way back when to sync a 303 to a sequencer, but then you need two MIDI ports for this.

*edit:* I take that back, the Kenton MIDI sync box I used is not made anymore (a Pro Solo I think it was), but they do an USB version these days: https://kentonuk.com/product-category/midi-to-cv-converters/

But it ain't cheap I'm afraid.

You can use a 5 pin din standard midi to trs adapter with the 303. cheap[. Or just connect it to your imaginary modular :)

My advice is to sell the TB303 and buy a Behringer clone that you can work with more easily via USB midi. With the remaining $4870 you can go on holiday to Cuba for a month

...I don't think that would work. Well, a modular probably would, but a MIDI-TRS probably will not.

That said, I got curious and started reading what people do use for SYNC24 these days and apparently a Arturia Keystep does with a TRS-to-DIN female extension cable. Presumably the cheap Behringer clone would as well. Both would be cheaper than a dedicated sync box or a modular

Now I haven't looked into it, but I guess a lot of the newer analog grooveboxes/drum machines (like Korg Volcas) could do this too. But this would require looking into the electricals of the connectors.

Ist it a Roland - TB-303? Read the manual!
You have a jack output that you can connect to your Audient. The MIDI jack is only for synchronization.

You cant. You can only sync to midi with a midi-to-sync box.

Best option to do this : a 303 VST clone like Roland TB-303 Cloud, Arturia Acid V or D16 Phoscyon.

But can it sync via jack output?

It does not. And again, a TB303 doesn't have MIDI for synchronization, only SYNC24 (which is the same connector as MIDI adding to the confusion).

Can you catch a direct flight to Havana from Fantasyland? The layover in Haiti can be a killer.

    It's not a midi plug, it's a SYNC24 plug.
If you put anything midi there, nothing will happend ...

I just read that I can sync them together via DIN Sync cable.

Yes, but that's not MIDI. Many years ago I used this one to sync my 303:

    https://doepfer.de/msy2.htm

It's not cheap and you need a MIDI interface, too. But for any real 303 owner that's pocket money.

Not the easiest but the cheapest solution would be to build a sync box with an Arduino clone like this:

    https://www.amazon.de/Entwicklungsp...tstelle-kompatibel-Arduino/dp/B0DD3WRVYF?th=1

I built several MIDI controllers myself with these little devices. You need some basic programming skills, but the great thing about the 32u4 is that it connects directly to usb, is bus powered and works like a class compliant MIDI interface.

And you can use it to build all kinds of MIDI interfaces, controllers or other tools.

No, that's not possible at all unless the 303 is heavily modified with a MIDI interface.
