Few days ago Sylenth1 2.2.1 x86 was working normally but today it stopped working and nightmare started.

    I have Windows 7 Ultimate x86
And Ableton 8 x86 & FL Studio x86 crashed every time when I tried to open Sylenth1 vst.
I tried everything. Every version possible. AoN 2016 & 2018. iDONTKNOWHO. AiR. LiberCool repack and other versions but nothing work.
Even Sylenth1 2.2 Demo from official site didn't work.
    I uninstalled everything.
I removed every registry key with word "Lennar" and "Sylenth1".
I blocked in hosts file "www.lennardigital.com" and "rhea.exsilia.net" sites.
I blocked my DAWs in Windows Firewall.
    But nothing helps.

It worked fine few days ago! Wtf happens?!

    Please help.

Happened to me once. Worked perfectly for years. Out of the blue, started to crash Ableton on opening projects with it.
    It was my anti-virus.
Try to disable yours if you have one. Hope that helps.

    I don't have any.
    Only basic Windows Defender.
    But I will check it.
    Thx

Let us know if it worked!
(and yes, windows defender may be the one to blame).

    Unfortunately. It didn't help.
I turned off Windows Defender and excluded vst plugins folder in options.
    But it didn't help

    Sorry to hear that.
Have you tried to run your daw as administrator?
Also, have you installed any other plugins recently that may be conflicting with Sylenth?

    Yeah. A lot.
The whole week I was installing plugins. 30 vsts at least.
No idea which one can cause problems.
I think the other vsts are not the problem.

I think my pc could catch a virus or malware.
I noticed now 3 weird things:
    1. Adobe Reader can't open pdfs. Pop up an error "Can't open a file in protected view because of incompatibility with system settings".
    2. I can't open program for releasing RAM memory called Mz RAM Booster. Pop up an error "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."
    3. In any web browser I can't connect to internet becase every new cart gives error "Status_Access_Violation".
    Same in Edge, Firefox, Chrome.

    So only those 3 things + Sylenth1 didn't work.
    Everything else work completly fine.
    Weird.
    Am I screwed very much?
I don't want to reinstall system.

Last trial (just because I ran out of ideas): try to restore your system to a previous point in time (starting from the most recent ones) using a restoration point in the system restore - maybe the culprit (something you have deleted unintentionally or something you have installed and is causing the problem) will be neutralized.

Try to download a decent AV like MalwareBytes, copy its installer to problem computer, install, run, see what happens...!?! It might save you a reinstall... @jennyblack a system restore is a good idea but I've never done it myself - it would be nice if that did the trick! good luck

One of the problem is that this laptop is x86 old and weak.
It has single core cpu and 1gb ram.
Malwarebytes is x64 and Win10 only. Also other antivirus software is too heavy or not compatible.
I need to find something which this laptop can handle.
Software nowadays is so much not optimized. Weaker hardware can't handle it and the size is big. Too big. At least 1GB for antivirus software. God have a mercy. Around 10 years ago it was max 100mb. And this laptop could run 3 antivirus scans at the same time. Optimalization now is worse than ever.
I will try maybe Eset Nod32 but it will be tough task for this oldie.

Hmmm, how about finding and running an AV outside of the OS - a bootable USB, for example - the OS doesn't matter then?

    Nod32 shows that:
    system32\svchost.exe
    system32\msiexec.exe
    system32\dllhost.exe

    Are infected with trojan.
It doesn't delete anything, just heal few other files, those above couldn't be healed.
But now after restart computer can't open. Just mouse icon and black background for 10 minutes.
    With safe mode the same.
    :lmao:

I don't think your system will ever be stable again when there are viruses in main system DLLs
Margaret, have you ever made a backup of your stable system you can fallback to?
Backup is essential. At least for the future, make one every time before you install something.

sorry @Margaret, you are in it real deep! If system files are infected - well, thats as bad as can be.
your options are - replace infected files by booting to usb and copying new files over infected
    - reinstalling from scratch (and backing up)
    - ?? I don't know what else, again, so sorry!
maybe someone else can think of something? good luck

EDIT: what about an "in place install"? install over old OS with same version? Might work?

At least you still have a sense of humor.
But seriously, i wouldn't put any more effort into this machine. In its current incarnation, it's dead. Just reinstall Windows 7.
Once you've reinstalled your DAW, start backing up to a blank disk you have lying around somewhere.
After every important step (e.g. when you installed all plugins you use regularly), do another backup. This way you can always fallback to the prior level.

Life is too short for installing Windows over and over again :guru:

For clean Windows install I still can find time (around 20 minutes is like collecting air for big fart).
But for installing 1000+ vst plugins one by one and bunch of other software
    Not Really
    :suicide:

That's why I suggested "in place install" because it overwrites infected system files and can keep programs installed - try googling and see if its for you?

if you do format and reinstall, it's a good idea to do a backup at a good point, in case you have to restore it later, like already mentioned. But don't wait until you do all the plugins. Do your OS, Firewall/AV, all your drivers for audio interface and whatever else, your DAW (especially if it is Cubase) and audio external editor if you use one, and Waves if you use them. Stop there and backup. Then start adding your individual plugins back as you need them to open existing projects, instead of just dumping them all back.

it is a good way to have a stable daw system, because it's usually later things that are actually the source of your problems; and it's a good chance to get rid of plugins you aren't even using. Once your core system is setup, you can easily restore to one again. If anything after that is a problem, you will already know that.
