Switzerland-based company "Swar Systems" has announced that SwarPlug, a virtual instrument featuring no less than 79 Indian voices, has just been released on the App Store. It works as an Audio Unit Extension (AUv3) that will load in any compatible DAW like Cubasis or Garageband.

Initially the plugin comes with only Tabla, but you can add any instrument you want through In-App Purchases.

Each instrument comes with lots of MIDI loops that can be auditioned directly in the plugin and then imported in your DAW through an Open In dialog.

Price: $2.99 (Tabla only). Additional instruments for about the same price. Bundle with all 79 instruments also available at $99.99.

The company also has a DAW made for Bollywood style soundtrack music. It includes Indian Instruments, pre-made grooves and supports both Windows and Mac OS.

 

I'd just thought it was impossible to create a DAW for a single style of music, and yet I browsed the link to learn that the DAW is actually packed with Indian Instruments. Nice.

 

Yeah I was curious to know as well.
Its good to know such products exist but I don't think anyone outside India or Bollywood music would use it as a serious tool.
