since a long time to this day I began to "doubt" about some released plugins that never work properly and also they never get updated or repaired.

Some examples are companies and plugins like:
Sonic Charge Synplant,
Sonic Charge Microtonic,
Excite Audio Vision 4X,
The Him DSP Sub Ninja,
FX23 PsyScope Pro,
Sound Toys

They became dead, outdated or with timebombs never solved, and considering their popularity is at least suspicious to be like that after such a long time...

Did you experience the same? what do you think about it?

 

From your list I use Synplant, Microtonic, Sub Ninja and Soundtoys. Only Microtonic has stopped working for me, the others are still fine.

crackers do pretty much whatever they want. that is not really so much different than developers. the only difference is you paid for one of them to keep your program working.

 

from the usual point of view of having some kind of "result" from your work, whether be economic benefit, gaining respect, following, etc leaving very popular plugins outdated and with issues and still releasing totally new and unknown tools, at least make you think about the real reasons behind it and it is what I'm trying to understand nowadays.

I don't question it, because everyone is free and specially when all this is "kind of" free, but I would like to know the reality instead of taking a lie as the truth...

 

Most programmers who created a product, often young students who started their own company, didn't achieve the revenue they envisioned and had to look for a job in the private sector that paid enough to cover their rent, living expenses, etc.

Now your product is on the market and, of course, will no longer be updated...! Their business model is capitalist, so companies disappear if they don't sell enough or generate enough revenue. Take a look at Patreon or Kickstarter online; a completely different business model. First, you raise money, and then, once you've raised enough, you manufacture the product and pass it on directly to the customer.

There's a third group—the retired group who have a steady income and can let their creativity run wild. Or, as in the case of the Surge XT VSti, the manufacturer simply released its synth (Vember Audio - Surge) due to a lack of time, and the synth team updated and improved the synth, making it bug-free, on weekends or at work...!

 

I wouldn't spend too much time thinking about hidden motivation/lies/truth here. It doesn't matter one way or the other.

This stuff is best thought of as extended duration demoware with 0 support and 0 guarantees for updates or fixes.
