Hello Best Audio People, I want to download something. So i click on download link and go to peeplink. But i get a mention that there is a 'suspected phishing website' and says 'the website you are visiting is classified as a phishing website and Such websites try to trick you figure out your personal financial information and are often a copy of a real website', such as a bank. Every peeplink link have that so i worried because I am a long member of this site and never seen it before.

My question is what to do and do you have it to if you want to download something and go to Peeplink?

    Friendly Greetings.

I had the same issue yesterday around 4pm.

Maybe the mods or administration can tell us something about it..?

Yep I had some warning messages from Firefox too, If you don't want to go directly on peeplink use JDownloader2, right click on a peeplink link and copy address.

You don't have to report it; just close that tab when it opens.
Of course there's always the option of buying the software if it's that big of a concern.
    Peace.

I Doubt that it unsafe. At the most it is annoying when you click on a link and it sends you to spam sites, but that's the cost of dealing with it.

I've noticed the links from the sister site getting more and more malware infested.

The other day I got a particularly nasty javascript encription virus in a zip file. It uses Windows native host execution which is tied in to the .js javascript file extension by default. That would have been a bad day if that had gone through.

I've also picked up a few other viruses here and there, but thankfully I am able to catch them and no harm done.

I no longer trust the sister site, sorry, until I get some time to really work out what is going on here.

The re-directs have become unbearable, but when serving Encryption Ransomware, that is unforgivable.

Yes, my machine is clean. I'm more of an expert in this field than most other people (I know most people say that), so I actually know what I'm talking about.

I do buy all of my software, but occasionally I will download some stuff to give it a quick once over. I no longer do that now.

I got my first virus from the sister site a few years ago, and it was pretty hard to get rid of, but I did eventually.

My machine is totally clean, I run sandboxed and in VMs. I just have such advanced techniques for catching stuff that nothing gets by me (fingers crossed).

I wouldn't download again from a link from peeplink just in case. It's not safe. For me anyway.

I understand all the keygen false positives and all the rest of the fear mongering to dissuade people from downloading cracks. But these were very real viruses. Sometimes a server gets taken over for an hour or two and payloads deployed. Server side polymorphic viruses will not be picked up by your AV and you need stuff like HIPS in place to check it. So it's no surprise that not everyone is getting done at the same time with the same thing. It doesn't work like that.

I also appreciate that it is not possible to police all links by the people putting them up in the first place. If a server gets temporarily hijacked no one would know until it is too late. I'm not casting blame.

Just keep in mind that this is going on and happens everywhere on the net, just not the links from the sister site and peeplink. You need some very serious security measures in place these days to counter act this stuff. Not least of all a full backup.

I would advise you to only ever use a sandboxed browser, and have a sandboxed music partition set up to install things to check if they work and if they call home.

DO NOT EVER CLICK ON A .JS FILE THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW! EVEN IF IT IS ZIPPED.

No need to panic. I've had a really really nasty virus from a genuine FLStudio installer - several people have in fact. So, buying all your own software counts for shit, when the people you are buying it off are taking the shilling to turn the other cheek. Image Line are constantly called out on this.

Just be careful. Trust no one. Have a plan in place. This is an ever increasing problem and keep your wits about you.

I had issues with that last week... What I did was click the link (on that phishing-warning page) that says something about "Report a Mistake."

You click that, and then there is a prompt that asks you to explain and I type simply, "This website is NOT phishing scam..." Honestly, you can type what ever you want... just say it's a false-positive or whatever... All that stuff went away for me... now all peeplinks open like before.

Last time this happened, I thought it was some virus.malware thing... but I dont know what the fuck it is, but it's not a threat... imo

Soft-ice: I have NEVER in my life gotten viruses from sister site... I have NO IDEA what you are doing. I found sister site like three, maybe four ago. Used a PC for the first two years, and have been on mac ever since, and I have NEVER once, what so ever, gotten a virus... sluggish computer performance, nothing.

I honestly do not know how our experiences are so vastly different.

And I am willing to believe that you do in fact know what you are talking about... never the less, I have not had problems.

Not sure why this is the case. :dunno:
