Microsoft has announced Windows 10 and brought back the start button.

Forget Windows 9. In an unexpected twist, Microsoft will be going straight to double digits from Windows 8 as it faces a challenging future for its operating system.

So basically they're naming it Windows 10 as a pat on the back for all the great work they've been doing. :wow:

Apparently they've never talked with the Windows Update team or the fact that installing updates from the Windows Store almost always causes some kind of failure. If you want to call that consistent then whatever. *no*

First impressions: looks good. Cortana, multiple desktops, a unified app experience, cusomizable start menu, etc. I like the new features and I'm all in when this comes out. There are rumors it will be free for Windows 8 users but I'll believe it when I see it.

People always make this point and it seems to me that they haven't used a PC in a decade because I haven't had a single BSOD since I moved to Windows 8 from XP. BSODs are almost always driver related because guess what having something work with all the different devices that Windows supports is a lot harder than having something work with the few devices Macs support. If I built an OS that only needs to support 2 devices it would run without issues as well.

Microsoft's incompetence is enough to turn me into a Mac user, and that is saying something!

Please don't start with usual PC vs Mac crap. I'm happy for win users if this is something better than 8.

Though, Windows 10 announcement will remain in my mind forever with the image of this guys haircut.

Are you talking about video cards and the like? Only very recently has that become true since the newest Mac Pro doesn't have PCI-type expansion slots. Prior to this model, I've had Mac towers over the years decked out with PCI (and PCIe, even further back: AGP) cards from the same manufacturers that provide Windows hardware. For example, I still have two MOTU 2408mk2 (PCIe-based) systems. I still own and operate Windows towers, so I'm not a crazy anti-Windows nutcase.

In my line of work, these things are just tools and I need the tools that allow me to work most efficiently. Sometimes that's Windows, due to the sheer volume of software made for it. But to be flat-out honest, I forget to shut down and restart my Macs, often for over a month at a time. While even six-month-old Windows install "reminds" me to restart on a daily basis due to performance or whatever else is plaguing the system each day. Windows has improved big time over the years, but I still cannot compare a Mac and a Windows machine on the same level whatsoever.

The two commands I use the most!
Little finger on Ctrl & index finger on v - the guitarist's stretch. :guitarhero:

BTW, if it weren't for DOS I might not have learned to type.

You're totally wrong. Mac is not a PERFECTION or a leap in technology. As Catalyst said, Mac is stable because it doesn't support as much stuff as Windows does so that's also why Mac is less versatile, why don't you mention nothing about Mac's versatility? The more things you try to virtually support, the more likely to find some problems sometimes. Driver-related problems are not only when it comes about graphic cards. The usb soundcards or midi-controllers as well (yes, midi controllers).

I worked on both Mac and PC and believe me, either you choose is good, but calling "PC" a "restarting addict" then that's just a USER problem. You blame your machine because you wasn't able to properly configure it from start? My Win 8.1 looks like a Yosemite, i patched it with this skin a while ago and it does both, looks nice and also behave nice. Never freezed or BSODs. I configured it from start to behave as i want and there's no "restarting" requests made by it, unless you activate the automatic updates, which sometimes may be useful because they just keep fixing bugs over time. Mac just comes pre-configured while Windows let you do whatever you want with it, even shooting yourself in the foot, lol. If you just can't get it act right, that's no longer an O.S. related problem.
