    Hey guys and gals!

Ever had the feeling of your mind getting lost after 2 / 3 hours session into the sound programming
when you start listening to your music in loop and stop making progression?

Ever had the feeling of studiochair nausea and/or starting to get nervous / anxiety ?

I know many of you smoke a joint / drink some booze in those situations and some use even harder drugs ..

but I was asking myself if anyone had experimented with supplements / herbal / nootropics / legal drugs or anything similar

maybe some stuf for adhd ?! just curious

I'm studying for my A+ certification right now. I had been using Adderall to help study but in the last week or so I've been taking relatively frequent and short study breaks and walking briskly during those breaks. It helps my concentration almost as much as the Adderall does and it's actually good for me. YMMV

As it's been said, take a break.
There are many ways to take a break. Of course getting out of your studio is a good thing. But sometimes, i listen to music instead, that gives me aural perspective, and when I get back to my music, I listen a different way.
Or, if you play an instrument, just get out of that song you're working on and play, it's a physical thing that also helps to get clear.
Chemicals (drugs, pills, alcohol or mix) generally just makes mentally easier to accept the fact that you're turning in circles. It does not take you out of it... I know by experience lol

I just saw an article in the news about how Snoop Dog has an employee who is his Professional Blunt Roller. I only have an Espresso Machine.

You are not a robot, go for a walk or hike in nature or do compensatory sports. Maybe yoga and breathing techniques.
Get enough sleep, drink little coffee and few sugary drinks. Drink more water.
Stay away from stimulants and drugs.

This is absolutely normal. Ear and brain fatique are pretty much an accepted realuty of music production.
In fact, 2-3-hours-long session is expremely unhealthy.
You're ought to work no more than 45 minutes in a row with at least a 15 minutes break afterwards. And no more than 4 hours of work a day to stay productive. Anything above these - and your perception starts to deteriorate exponentially.

Of course there's crunch time. Participate if you must, but remember that crunch is a failure of the management. Even when *you are* the only management.
Otherwise there's no need for substances, only some discipline and a healthy work schedule.

Tho if you can't stop yourself from working in 3-hour sessions, maybe you do need ADHD treatment. You should consult the specialist in this case.

Thank you so much for the lenghty and indepth reply! I'm a veggie too (since I was born) so definitely I will try to add to my supplement intake some of the things you reccomend !
For detox i tend to use milk thristle
As for weed i cant really experiment with that because in the last decade I tend to get paranoia very easily.
Meditation I should definitely try more, I practice some yoga like 2 times a week and I would say its really beneficial.

Have you ever tried nootropics or similar?

I tend to have this idea that when i hold a thought about what i should do next it kinda flows better, thats why I compose for hours non stop, I have the feeling that I might loose the vision of what I was trying to do / achieve

in those scinarios I usually bust out the torch and a spoon, and go the downtown brown route. But in all honesty, I usually dont experience because I have only about 3hrs after work to mess around... this is why there are hundreds of unfished tracks on my computer. I really just make music to smoke to later, so I dont get too detailed, and dont have the time to get detailed usually. Now when I record my buddy's guitar and we come up with tracks, the constant amp sound can cause ear fatigue a little quicker than just messing with some soft ambient pads
