    Hi
Superior Drummer 3 when loaded says Rock Solid needs to be updated.
I've tried different versions of Superior Drummer 3 but they all have the same result.
SO, does the ezx library version have to be the same as the Superior Drummer 3 version or is there another way of overcoming this problem to make the software work ?

I guess you need a SD3 version compatible with EZDrummer3 libraries. But you'd need to specify your Rock Solid and SD version to be able to verify.

Superior Drummer 3 got an important update shortly after EZDrummer 3.0 basically to be able to load the insane amount of GUI stuff that comes with EZD3, among the other changes. Big increase in size.

Hi, by indicating your plaform (Win, Mac) and the version of Superior Drummer 3 you're using, it will be better if you'll want anybody helps you here. This comment is not nasty, don't worry, but we're not behind your computer, and we've broken our crystal balls.

Use lastest SD3 version as possible (compatibility against more recent SDXs, and EZXs designed for EZdrummer 3).

This means SD3's version is newer than Rock Solid's version. To use all features of SD3 with the Lib you need an update of Rock Solid.

To determin wich version of Rock Solid you have look up the directory where Rock Solid resides.
In this directory there is a file named Aversion. Open it with a text editor and you'll see something like 1.5.3 in one single line.

If you don't care about the new features and just want to get rid of the annoying message, make a backup of the Aversion file (e.g. Aversion.OLD) and change the original from 1.5.3 or somtheing to 2.5.3. or even higher. Cave: No extension for the new Aversion file!

Now the version of Rock Solid (or is it Solid Rock?) is higher than SD expects and it should shut up

    Happy version bending

Everything in your post is true but in this case the last sentence should read: "use latest Rock Solid (or Solid Rock?) Version" :mates:

Im using Windows 11 and Superior Drummer 3 Version 3.0.1 the rock solid version is 1.0.0.
    The messaged is
The sound library "Rock Solid" needs to be updated. Please use the Toontrack product manager to update.
I thought that Superior Drummer versions would work backwards.

They are backward compatible. They even update older Libs with new features. But you need to update the Lib (a bit) to to work fully with the new SD.
If you don't need the new (mostly UI related) features, try the workaround in my post above.

    You're welcome.
If you have tried it, please post your experience here, then others will also benefit.

P.S.: Mhhm, Rock Solid 1.0.0 is quite an old version.
I didn't have the time the last days but today I've installed Superior Drummer 3.3.5 and Rock Solid 1.5.2.
They work together flawlessly. Both are available on the web, so I would suggest to update both.

Unfortunately I don't have Rock Solid EZX library, but in general it's best / highly recommended to use lastest version of Superior Drummer 3 (and/or EZdrummer).

Try a web search for the following or, something similar:

    Toontrack – EZX Updates to 2.1.5 2.1.6

You should find Rock Solid in the list. The latest EZX2 updates are required for older libraries to work with EZD2. EZD3 & SD3.
That particular library seems to have only one update from 10 years ago.

Unless you are looking for a particular "canned" sound, you are much better off with the default EZD3 & SD3 libraries as a starting point.

GENERAL Rule of thumb for EZX's and SDX's and Superior drummer 3.xx -

If your particular EZX or SDX pack is a version 1.00 it's more than likely NOT going to work with SD3.xx. You'll need to get that EZX or SDX pack version number up to 1.01-1.5x in order for SD3 not to throw a tantrum.

Tried that on an EZ3 plain Rock product and made it 3.0.6 like EZ3, but it still wouldn't work.

Are you certain of the validity of the EZX pack itself? Have a look inside the EZX folder - there should be a bunch of stuff in there including an aversion file, the sample library itself, a graphics folder, and a bunch of other stuff. If you look in there and see only a Graphics folder and maybe one other file, it's most likely that EZX is fried. Also make certain the naming convention for the EZX root folder is what the factory calls for.

Looks like you already have Rock Solid Ver 1.00 installed. The following 2 updates, should fix your problem.

Toontrack EZX Rock Solid Midi Pack v1.5.0 Win Mac
    and
Toontrack EZX Rock Solid Update v1.5.3 Win Mac

both are small files which I could upload for you, but not sure if that's allowed.
The Win files are 5mb and 17mb respectively.

Alternatively; as mentioned above by others, you could locate the "aversion" file for Rock Solid, open it with "notepad", change the 1.0.0 to 1.5.3 Save the changes and when you reload SD3 all should be good with the world.

    Cheers
    Haystack

    Hi
    Thanks for the help.
The Aversion change doesn't work so, when I get time i'll try the other files.

Has anyone been able to find the latest update to the Blues EZX? Can only seem to locate up to v1.5.1 which isn't enough update for SD3 to load the Blues EZX.
