I have run tests, and I think there is no sound difference between caching on and off!
Correct me if something is wrong.
I just turned on all bleeds channels and it took me 2000mb of memory!

Why would it sound different ?! It's the same samples, only loaded differently.

What this means is, SD3's sound engine gets a little wonky while it's loading samples. Once the samples are loaded it goes back to normal. So for people who want to avoid the sound getting weird at an inopportune time, they offer the choice of loading everything at once

Caching tends to not work well for playing in real time, and it's a disaster for e-drums. On most machines these days 2Gb of RAM is nothing. But, if you have a machine with more limited resources caching is provided for that very reason.

Btw the "reduced sound quality" they talk of is not a lower quality sample. It's the glitching of trying to load a sound when it's already supposed to be playing the sound.

"TEMPORARILY", because SD3 can't play a sample before loading it, once it's loaded, no problem. Same with non cached, if you launch playback before all samples are loaded, it will be very buggy.

Caching, as stated in the manual, is meant to be used only once the MIDI part is finnished and will not change (so not real time with e-drums, because of human playing, velocity changes are triggering different samples each time...).
