You can change the location of any VST plugin and place it anywhere you want, so I really don't see the problem... There is a function called "search" on any PC. Maybe some guys shouldn't yell after ableton and read "computers for the newbies" first.
It's up to you to organize your folders not to Ableton... You can use any type of folder architecture (by brand, by type,...) and sort them out in an infinite way. You can even duplicate the same plugin in different folders, so what's wrong with you guys?
And if you don't know how to use Ableton (or a PC) then don't use it, you don't know what you're missing!

Hi guys, I noticed that Nexus 3.4.4 (from sis site) doesn't scan correctly in Live 11.1. When Live 11.1 scans the Nexus dll, a messagebox from WinLicense pops up saying that the shareware evaluation period is over and that there are no more executions remaining. Once you click OK, the box disappears and the plugin scan continues, but Nexus doesn't get added to the plugin list within Live 11.1.

It worked perfectly fine in Live 10 and Live 11.0.x. I saw ArticStorm wrote that the plugin scanner was completely rewritten for 11.1. Is there any way to forcefully use the old scanner somehow to get Nexus working again, or do you think there will be any updates in this regard?

    Thank you :)

the easy answer is to downgrade back to the version where it worked for you. can you have them side by side? what's the difference to you in the versions? you could look at the changelog and determine that. At least for long enough to bounce anything you need to, so you don't lose anything either way.

@clone the main issue is that I use Nexus professionally in my day to day work, and I'd also like to keep updated with the latest Live version for my work as well, so it would really be ideal if I could continue working as usual.

Hi, I don't understand the problem, there is no problem, you create a folder where you want:
    VST
inside the VST folder you create two folders:
    INSTRUMENTS
    FX
    finished! without shortcuts.
You assign the folder to Live, scan, done!
I was on Live 10, I'm on Live 11.1, no need to reassign!
anyway most applications come with vst3 plugs, the vst3 folder you can also format as you wish!

Two suggestions: (or simply write the Ableton support, they know way more)
    1) update to the latest beta, there vst plugin scanner is fixed. Nothing else i can suggest. But this could mean you cant go back maybe to previous version with your product. Beta version can be flawed or even highly instable. Or something features do not work, thats all with a big maybe.

    2) You can always go back to a previous version, ableton keep all older setup for download. I mean there was a version where everything worked, find this version and install it again. Authorization should work as usual and you can install multiple Ableton version on one system. Do not access the User Library with both version ever, this will may delete files in it and screw things up.

Ableton take regular links for Windows : just put ANY shortcut into scanned folder and it will scan it.
I've organized my entire library like this years ago : install in default location and reorganize by folder with simple shortcuts in them.

I wonder if it still work ...

What do you mean by User Library? Do you mean where you have your project files or samples located?

Ableton has a Core Library and a User Libary. Its were all your Ableton Racks, Presets, etc are saved. its no where you are samples are (atleast not for me heheh)

    here: https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/209774085-The-User-Library

If you run two or more Ableton Live versions, create separate User Libraries and sync them with between with something like bvckup.

Live doesnt let you use the User Library with two opened Live versions.

Or open Live version X, set/save presets, add favs, etc - close.

    Open Live version Y,

Open Live version X again, your favs are messed up or/and your presets, which you have saved are gone.

yep it will be ignored but the scan for plugins is now running in the background... (not that you can use the daw in any meaningful way when this is happening)... you can disable this behaviour with "-DisableBackgroundPluginScanner" in Options.txt, but that just scans the plugins as it was before 11.1 and no - the "-NoVstStartupScan" option isn't working even if you disable the background plugin scanner.. sad..

This no longer works in 11.1 they broke that ability trying to code from apple M1. It's the whole point of my post. It's allegedly fixed in the newest beta.
