the dustcap has no other function than closing the voicecoil and airgap from polepiece space underneath it. The vacuum clener works, use with caution. Maybe use a hairdryer to warm up the plastic a bit. NOT HOT AIR! Just abt 40°C like a hot bathtub.
I know what i talk abt. I designed driveunits. So dont worry.
The dustcap on a smaller midrange drive units is another story,
or a aluminium one for Guitarspeakers (they make the screaming resonance)

So... this is only a cosmetic fix, right? AFAIK there is no audible harm done?

its a Subwoofer, the dustcap would be signifikant in frequencies over 500 Hz.
The integrated crossover should limit with a lowpass at abt max 80 Hz.

Doesn't look like a sub with that tweeter. Crossover point is at least 1k?

oh sorry, i only saw a " woofer". And i know KRK has similar looking subwoofers.
The Dustcap is a typical "Design" dustcap, way too big. Usually u use such a Dustcap only on big Woofers like 2"-4" voice coils .
Again the only way to get it out is warm it up a bit, use a vacuumj cleaner with airregulation and plop it outwards.
Afterwards put the speakers side by side on a stand with no surfaces surrounding them and make an A/B Comparison with "pink noise" as a source. The speakers should sound the same (with a very small difference in upper frequencies).
Sorry again what i said was only for real woofers. In this 2way speaker it would be called a Bass Midrange Speaker and it usually cuts at 2-3 Khz. I hope all my advice can help in other cases.
