seeing the comparison (when you click Buy Now), new Studio One 6 Professional already feels like irrelevant product,
Audio Batch Converter - only in Sphere subscription (165 bucks a year)
    seriously?

You can change it, you can even make it look like Ableton if you wish, invert colour or white.

this is EXACTLY what i suspected would happen when that piece of crap Sphere was introduced.

I knew slowly the focus and resources would not longer be on making the freaking DAW we learned to love and bought the best, but just a vessel to fill with "extras".

And they would flash all the not exclusive but EXCLUDING features in our feed just to annoy the shit out of us who dont rent.

I say fu executives at Presonus

There are several ways to look at it. as a V5 user I guess the update price is around 149 euros. by the time V7 will be released it could be as far as +2 years from now, Sphere users will have paid $388 or so dollars. And it's not like you're missing much. from time to time they do sales on addons, and you have them for "life", it's still a less expensive option in the long run.

Sphere is great if you're on a budget and don't feel like shelling out much cash upfront. It's a very good deal when you see what some are unashamedly asking for some plugins.

    makes me sad tho,
years back when PreSonus released their first budget studio monitors lineup, original Eris series, they were so good bang for the buck I got both E8 and E5, and the still are till now (better self-noise than praised Kali Audio actually), then I got Faderport Classic (the original, grey one fader) and once I needed to make firmware update = find old enough computer without any USB 3.0 bus, but new enough to have Windows 7 latest Service Packs and updates, which I ended up building whole hackintosh specifically for because else it didn't work, and also checking AudioBox 22VSL no longer receiving functional driver updates for Windows 10, that time I realized PreSonus products relying on software a fucked up - went full RME and never looked back. Faderport is now just a dust catcher, or paperweight in shelf (but hey it still works, kinda).

Probably you never actually used original Studio One and so you don't know. Audio Batch Convertor was (and is) always an add on. So was (and is) Presence XT editor.

    https://shop.presonus.com/Audio-Batch-Converter
(This was always an add on to be purchased separately)

Audio Batch Convertor were never a part of S1 Professional.

Sphere = You get everything Presonus makes.

Now you will ask, why they are not including Notion with S1 Pro!

Such a shame, Presonus/ Fender hang your head. Here in the UK the update costs £129 which is daylight robbery. To buy Cubase Pro 12 crossgrade is only £185, Presonus should adjust their prices accordingly. I would pay £50 for an update, but £129 is totally out of the question. Presonus... bah..... Dick Turpin.

In Ardour which is free you have the ability to pan in 3D( the feature is still rather rudementry and most win vst's do it a little better). Most DAW companies are focusing on other features since it's not on high demand, however when most people are looking for stereo wideners and "compression" to mix a sound they forget you can position it "properly" with 3D panning and EQ( you might not even have to EQ) to your liking. "Azimuth" the long forgotten mixing term. How many times do we throw away a sound we like because it doesn't mix right. And don't say that 3D panning is new when bands like NIN show signs of using 3D panning since the day of PHM. Not one 3D panning vst company has even said "all new never before done" either. Shits old everyone went back to the age of Mono circa 1940.

Azimuth is defined as the left/right movement of an audio head, as seen from the front. This is designed to align all of the head gaps exactly perpendicular to the tape. Typically, azimuth is performed in one of two ways, the oscilloscope method, or the summing method.

Actual Panning in Stereo is done in 1D actually. Left to Right or Right to left is 1D. Now, if you Add the depth dimension (Front to Back), then it will be 2D. For Depth, a lot of factors are involved, Level, HF Content, Dry to Wet signal ratio etc. But then you Stereo speakers are located in 1D and all other things are created due to perception.
Now this two dimensions (left-right and Front-back) are perceived pretty much equally for most people for a Stereo sound.
Most people feel that the frequency are spread in the Height dimension, like LF is at bottom, HF is at top etc. That is perceived. That cannot be quantified and thus you can never have actual 3D panning for 'Stereo'.
3D panning, even in Ardour is only available for Surround sound, that is when you have speakers positioned in ALL 3 dimensions available and not Stereo Sound, where the speaker is just positioned in 1 Dimension. 5.1 is 2D because as there's no height component.

Stereo Wideners DO use Azimuth. Most of them create a delay between left to right channel.

Compression is for entirely different purpose and nothing to do with the position of the sound.

So, please stop crapping on places while knowing half-shit.
