If we had Vocalign on Sister site that would be sweet. If integrated means totally bundled with S1 it would be awesome.

 

Bold text is already implemented in 5th version(as I wrote). Seems we have to wait to find out if any of the other points are there.

 

Why on earth would you automate clip gain volume ?

 

Will still be a CPU hog?

 

It's actually a pretty cool feature, but I wouldn't call it "automation", it's more like drawing(gain). You can use it to drow out clicks, "S", peaks etc. Long overdue, tbh. It should've been in S1 since version 1(considering that they targeted ProTools users as their main potential user group).

Stick a gain plugin first on the insert chain (If you don't want to use the channel fader) and automate it.

 

Trust me, when you have this feature, you won't be so sure about your approach to this issue anymore

 

I hope for clip gain automation (not only clip gain) that dynamically updates the waveform amplitude when changing.
Would be such an improvement for me in vocals editing. I would pay for that update alone.

Yeah, this is basically what they added(but I'm not sure about pan). Clip gain was there for years.

Because I don't want a daw that is bloated and does everything on earth. I want one that can do what I want it to do.

 

Why? In the end of the day nobody will be forcing you to use this or that function. The point is to keep it smooth and "flowful". So far PreSonus did this job pretty well. I hope S1 will become "new Digital Performer", but not that messy and buggy. Being able to finish almost any job inside one environment is awesome "problem" to have.

Btw I've watched their documentary\interviews about development of Studio One and they said that they coded it with future in mind, so they can put any new feature in future or rewrite the entire thing if it needed(if it becomes outdated). If this is true, it's good idea - just look at PT, DP, Cubase and the rest of "vets". They refuse to implement any meaningful change because it'll cost them too much money(basically they'll have to rewrite the entire thing from scratch and the cost of it is impossible or unacceptable for them).

EXACTLY ! I completely agree with you in this one and is the only reason I keep using Studio One. It's feature set has the biggest overlap with my needs, compared with all other daws.

 

Studio One is killing Cubase and trampling over eLicenser.

How silly at Steinberg.

Yeah because clip gain automation would bloat a daw.
Only because you don't need a feature does not mean it is a real improvement for a modern daw.

And yes a lot of people use clip gain mostly on their vocals before they hit the effects. Automating this instead of the simple clip gain function is a huge improvement and time saver.

Common guys, don't fight with each other. Let's do what we used to - shit on Reaper, Cubase and PT together.

 

Sounds like Pro Tools is the DAW you should be using.
