I wouldn't say its a disaster but there are so may problems.
    Just to name a few.
If you delete a track this will change the order of some tracks.
If you create a new track with a track selected, it puts the track at the end not next to the track created.
If you try to send midi to harmony efx or nectar 2, this does not work. But load 2.6.5 and its perfect.
The look is very good. If you want the old look you can set it up.
There are a lot of nice functions but the basic bugs really make it hard work.
To say nothing of the continual crashing.
And the CPU power all being eaten up.

    # Report to tech support all these bugs, and while you are waiting for the next update try to install it again. try disable the service you don't wanna use and stuff like that.

    # Let's face it. V3 isn't that great... coming from previous release you expect more from Presonus, I'm not talking about new crazy features but i'm talking to shape what we already got.

Let's start from the new features:

-Bezier Curve. i requested it, i'm happy could be smoother but it's ok.

-Extended Fx chains, needs dry/wet knob so you can mix different signals....

-Sketchpad, needs an autohide feature for track used only in the sketchpad. When you delete a track from the arrange track you need to browse all the sketchpads to be sure that nothing important is deleted. A warning message for sketchpad is needed.

Plus i think that function (disable sketch) for disbling some sketchpad from ram and cpu is really needed.

-new GUI, really hate it. People are happy. But that's the main reason why CPU is heavier now, but again people are happier that mute button are bigger than track names. and White on black is harder to read than black on white. There are black daws with awesome GUI, look Logic Pro X (wich i used) and Cubase. This GUI just sucks. If you think that the new gui is better than the old one just compared the fader knob and judge by yourself.... "you can personalize the scheme colors" true, but the gui is bad anyway no matter what color you choose...

-What the point of move "overlapping clips" to single track, really why??

-Note fx are ok, don't use them anyway. coming from Logic they could be better especially the arpeggiator and the chorder.... and they can't not be store in musicloop

-Multi-intruments, we don't really need them... and they are buggy....

-CHANGED the stretch algo, basicly none noticed that but S1 v3 sounds woser than V2, it's funny since it's a daw for making music... but everyone is really happy about the new GUI....

    # I would be more happy to re-shape what we already have than new feature, i can make some examples:

-Tracklist is still uncomplete, you save you preset and then all neends to be re-done when you import a new track... Logic does it in a simplier but why more cool way.

-Piano roll could be better, really...

-freeze and unfreeze track you can lost you plugins and automations

-only vsti automations can be written in the midi... and still is it....

    # Plus i can add some really new features that i'd like to see in the next release without turning Studio One into Logic or Cubase. I'm talking about:

-Disable track, everyone wants it (disable from cpu and ram, or at least cpu)

    -Pre-fader metering mode

-Autofocus mode, this is a really workflow improver

    and go on...

And the and of the day i'm not happy with V3 update coming from previous realease.... from 2.5 to v3 you could done better Presonus really....

    Well I am with you.
I have come from using Pro Tools before it was Pro Tools as a professional. I found Studio One to be a shining light in the field of mixing.
In studios I have been forced to use Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase and the herendous Sonic Solutions.
I was working out of a Sonic studio and I lost 50% of my client base.
So Studio One has been incredible.
But as you say they should have done better. They are trying to be better than others and they are in lots of ways. But bad code and crashing can destroy your livelyhood as I have experienced.
So if Presonus is serious they should get Serious.
    New features is another story.
I was commisioned by Fairlight to help create their series 3 sound library. I was able to talk to the software guys directly and that was very interesting.
But I was working in London and got myself in series problem syncing the Fairlight to some drum machine.
    It cost me the gig.
Going back to the software guys they said oh yes we are fixing that.
They have no realisation what it is like to be in a session and have your technology fall over.

concise and to the point. these forums are full of users spewing out criticisms and wishlists etc, but how many of these can say their living is affected by the quality of the software they use. to me this seems to be the major problem with studio one. if you use samplitude for example, you know straight from out of the gate that this is made with major consideration of it's professional users as well as the 'hobbyist' or 'bedroom producer'.. it seems to me that presonus will suffer on this bigtime. i was on a bitwig forum today and the amount of direct interaction with users is amazing. changes being implemented in the next update etc.
personally i love studio one, particularly it's potential was awesome. but version 3, in terms of practical workflow and getting things DONE is woeful.
    sad.
