Hi guys, i was trying Studio One 3 and found a big bug on PDC when using Multi-Layer Intruments.

-Create a multilayer Instrument
-Import a drum loop
-load a plugin with a big latency on the drum loop track (fabfilter Pro Q with Linear Phase mode)

The project now will break the PDC and start sound off sync.

So i tried again with the same instruments without the Multi-layer and noticed that everything is ok (like was in V2), stable and in sync.

I don't use Multi anyway since i like to change a little bit my MIDIs here and there when layering stuff, but maybe guys some of you will use it.

ps: without heavy plugins everything should play in sync anyway

 

Well... we are at first version, probably there are some bugs (macros and micros) that needs to be fixed. *yes*

First issues of the "one of the best" DAW...if it wasn't in 2nd version, how they spoiled it in new enhanced version? it's like Audition, each new version gets better and worse, more new features, less existed features...strange...

try to recreate this. instant quitting/freeze.

- add the " Runtime" preset from the multi-instruments presets, and move any knob on the popup window. Studio One instantly quits. very very strange. i happens every time, after reboot. i think the app is full of bugs atm.

I talked to Rick Naqvi about the live stream and he told me that they are going to release a maintenance update within the next month or so. So guys report all bugs to Presonus Tech Support.

Strangely I can't reproduce the issue you've reported, Mostwest, testing using FF Pro-Q 2 (Linear Phase set at Maximum, tests using other values too), PDC seems working (no sync problems) - maybe something is wrong from me - using x64 "SO3" on Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 with Platform Update, Intel Core i7 4790 @ 4GHz, 32GB RAM, Saffire PRO 14... EDIT : I've checked latencies from Permonance Monitor and all are OK and my short mix (10 seconds to do this test) remain in sync (loop playing). Can you precise the synths you've layered?

EDIT 2 : I confirm the DAW crash when using "Runtime" preset then moving any knob.

Don't know about Performance Monitor but using my ears and it's clearly off sync, some people on KVR noticed this too. Maybe you are a lucky guy
Not a big problem for me since i'm not planning to use this features anyway

Also noticed another thing: When your synth is in the Multi-layer rack the send change behaviour. You can only send signal to output and not to sidechain or FX anymore. This is really strange, but again not my problems...

 

Another bug related to Multi Layer: One instruments skipped 3 senconds when transformed to audio (kontakt)

I've replicated both problems on my latest gen computer with Win7 64 S1v3 64
Runtime effeminately crushes S1 consistently.

PDC issue however isn't consistent.
At one time just a Kontakt piano with piano from Omnisphere on a single multi instrument track wouldn't be in sync (without any fx plugins)and at others times several multi instrument tracks (including Kontakt with Omnisphere on some tracks) and several instances of Pro Q2 in linear phase mode behave properly in sync with loops and metronome.

Maybe some of you might find the following useful;
With v2.63 (and previous) I had problems with Legacy Cell 64bit. In some song projects as they progressed over time Legacy Cell wouldn't load anymore or if it did the GUI wouldn't. Frequent track bouncing was the workaround.
J-bridged Virsyn Cube wouldn't load unless I used FL-studio as a plugin within S1 and loaded it there.

Here with v3.0 Legacy Cell 64bit loads in clean projects, on the other hand it just crushed the project I made to test this PDC issue. However if I add it as a second instrument in multi instrument track it loads and plays fine.
Frankenstein of S1v3 and FL Studio 12 still works for Cube.
