The fonts look, since I can remember, always shitty to me. There is something about their GUI which makes me depressed.

Yes, Yes, I really can't understand how can be possible such a mess, the contrast is good maybe for a cat. Grey on black, and as usual, a melancholy GUI is a prerequisite for a nervous depression and a loss of sight. I'm a fan of Studio One, but now I'm tempted to give Ableton a try.

You haven't mentioned the specs of your windows machine. Laptop/desktop, videocard model, how many monitors, etc

I see several possible fixes at the forum https://forums.presonus.com/viewtopic.php?f=154&t=8847

None of those fixes works. Its just they didnt make it good for 1080p monitors. I got desktop PC / Win 8.1, i7 870, Nvidia Gts 450, 8gb ram.. At same pc I got hackintosh on other drive so thats how I got it compared.

    EXAMPLE: http://postimg.org/image/40xdicff1/
Left one is PC, Right one is MAC and as you can see, on mac font is bold. It helps when you stare in computer for more hours as I usually do.

    Desktop
    Videocard ATI Radeon HD2600
    Monitor Dell U2412M
Perfectly working with Studio One 2.6
And the issue is mainly related to blurry fonts and low contrast, not so deep as mentioned from Presonus forum users....(flickering...etc)
Happy to see that Mac users don't have it, but I don't think I will buy one for this......

Don't get me wrong, I think StudioOne is a great DAW ! I just don't like its GUI.
Regarding Live its the same depressing GUI for my taste.
Logic X looks much more juicy for me.

You might have to adjust your windows font settings, like the "Cleartype" settings if you look for it in control panel. I don't have time to experiment at the moment but I did make it a bit bolder looking on my PC with that.

Examining your screen caps on my desktop PC (nVidia GTX 760, dell 23" 1080p monitor) the PC fonts look clear and readable, and the mac font looks blurry and over

I could understand at HiDP/Retina level resolutions having an issue, since that's a long standing one which the developers have to do extra work.

Windows has it's own engine and forced settings that one has to deal with.

    One can always try: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/fonts-appear-blurred-windows-8

I thought the same when I saw his screencap on my monitor, Wuzzle, that actually OS-X font looks blurry, and Windows font sharp. The title of the thread is misleading. Sizers, to me fonts on OS-X look bolder and thinner/sharper on Windows.

I find the Studio one GUI looking fabulous to me, I love it far more than before as I thought it was too bright, and for me it's easier on my eyes than before, to the point that I'm thinking if I should use Studio One along with Reaper. Different people - different tastes, I guess.

As suggested already you could try tinkering with the Cleartype setting in Control Panel on Windows to make all the fonts look a bit bolder. :winker:

    Cheers!

Clear type settings are (for what I know) only two: on or off: and I already set to "on".
The point is that SO 2.6 shows them clearly, contrary to 3.1: maybe a reason could be that they mainly are grey on black background, and I don't think this is a great idea to have good contrast.
Maybe another reason could be that i setted "medium" size for them, but I repeat, SO2 works absolutely fine with this setting (and they are absolutely needed for an hi res monitor, to avoid working with binoculars:woot:).

Another bad issue of this GUI is that the highlighted track hasn't sufficient contrast to identify its corresponding mixer fader (above all if coloured), so you have to check it before to be sure it's the correct one.
They should give an option to go back to previous GUI..........:dunno:

Finally, adding that both 3.1 and 2.6 seem to have problems with Ilok plugins (AudioUTOPiA is not welcome there.....), I'm thinking to move elsewhere........a petty, I loved 2.6

Yes fonts on OS X looks bolder but it is nicer for me on 21,5" LED 1920x1080 monitor :S
I did try cleartype and I think it is a bit bolder now in the app but not enough. Other fonts on PC are now better with cleartype.
P.S. I got no problem with AudioUOPiA plugins on windows 8.1, everything works great.

    Lexicon, many crashes
    Eventide as above, unaspected crashes
Didn't try many other, I lost confidence.......never had a problem with other plugs

, I have been trying all weekend with vmware and virtualbox, even Pearpc to run osx on my PC so I can use logic pro and sample the ES1 for some tasty bass :) do you have any recommendations for what works? I have tried so many tutorials but I am either too retarded or doing something wrong lol.

I think you wont get far with Virtual machines when it comes to Audio.

    Have a look here:

If you are lucky your current PC hardware is supported :)
