Studio One 3.3.3 doesn't see two different Kontakt versions

    Hi everyone

I just upgraded my Kontakt from 5.5.0 to 5.6.5. (Just copied the new 5.6.5 dll's over the old 5.5.0)
Everything runs fine. Now of course I would want the old 5.5.0 version to run alongside.

So I basically renamed both versions: Kontakt 550.dll and Kontakt 565.dll
I placed them in the same folder and also experimented with different ones. Studio One 3.3.3 only sees the Kontakt 550.dll. The Kontakt 565.dll is invisible.

Is this a Studio One issue ? I've read many posts where people just rename the dll files and run both versions alongside without any problems

    hi
    use a chainer or patch.
    i install kontakt 5.5 and I use both ....
kontakt 5.6(ugly skin gui) on patchwork or metaplugin, or chainer and, work.
but, maybe its better to have some libraries for 5.5 on on hd, and other librarys on ANOTHER hd.

    kontakt 5.6. on = e: hd

Tried it out with PatchWork and it's indeed a nice solution to have the stable 5.5.0 Kontakt version within Studio One 3 and using the new 5.6.5 version through PatchWork only for new libraries like "Ethno World 6"

    exactly.
i only use the version 5.6.5 with libraris, that can(not) be used on 5.5.
and plus i have that libraries on another hd.
    here works.

Maybe I'm repetitive saying 2 hard drives and two libraries. But it seems the best solution for a good performance and avoid possible conflicts.
    Registry keys and everything else.

Can you please explain why you need to run 2 different versions? Using the latest isn't enough?

Does work. Not sure about studio one. Rename .dll like have and use side by side. Use it for say Unlocked & legit at same time. Sometimes only reads name of one .dll as in even if u named it might read both .dll as 5.5 etc but you will have two .dll and one will be say unlocked & one legit. Both share common resources and works fine. Double check they both in same location and -> right click and check properties of both .dll

not for me... the 5.6.5 its ugly as fuc.k (skin gui)...
and the 5.5. always works ok. to me on all the projects i have.
only use the 5.6.5. on A few libraries.
    that why.....
and 5.5. not need (keygen ) or wathever.

another things this conflict apper ALSO on reapper, within diferent kontakts 5.6.5. and 5.5. especilly wiht the ( 32 bit vs 64 bit), its not only aproblem of studio one .

Yeah Studio One only allows you to have each plugin's ID in the first folder it finds it. I have a custom folder structure where for instance I might have Devil Loc Deluxe in the compressors folder and the distortions folder. Yet it only shows up in compressors since it alphabetically precedes distortion.

One way you probably could work around this without the extra mess of a chainer is to use the VST2 for one version and uninstall its VST3 so S1 finds the other version's VST3

I'm just not really trusting the new 5.6.5 Version version since there were so many problems with keygens and libraries not working, no batch export and so on. I really need to test it out for a while. PatchWork is quite a good solution here

    No idea rectifier23 :dunno:

Personally I really like the new GUI and 5.6 update was a pretty significant one in terms of what developer etc can accomplish.
The advances with say with regards to mathematical functions, improved GUI space and other aspects made it a huge update.
R2R obviously have their own very good reasons for switching to keygen and that's how it is.
It's only gonna be a matter of time though till all new libraries are using 5.6 & above unless the developer specifically catering to other users needs with regards to backwards compatibility.
Then unless a different option available that will be more or less the road people must follow. Not sure how long but who knows.
They recommend everyone switch as far as I'm aware.
Must be some good reasons for that I guess but that's up to the user etc to decide obviously :dunno:
