    Hi everyone,

Currently looking for some experiences regarding studio monitors up to this price range. I'm producing trance music, so low is very important and I rather not have a separated sub. The monitors have to be good and clear in low, mid and highs and give a true sound.

Current monitors I look at are:

    Dynaudio LYD 48
    Focal Shape Twin
Eve Audio SC307 (Leaning to this one)

Looking to hear some thoughts of people who have been in the same boat or have had a listen to various speakers in the game range I'm looking at. Ofcourse I will test them all at the studio, just want to narrow a list down for ones to try.

    Cheers!

PSI A17, nothing but the truth.
Your room must be traited also, it's valable for all kind of monitors.

    I like your "budget" :like::yes:

Myself: I have a pair of Adam A7X and they´re really nice monitors.

Let us know what you´ve bought, when the time comes.

Actually, with that budget, I would highly recommend the Adam Audio A77X over the A7X. You should have enough Euro's left over to get a half decent sub woofer to complete the package.

A77X with at least an 8" sub will most definitely do the trick!

Added to the list. My room is treated, so no worried there. :)

I've had both A77X and the Dynaudio LYD48, but Dynaudio sounds better in my ears. So the A77X is not going to be it for me.

I have the SC305 right now! Wonderful monitors, they lack in the bass area if I had to point something bad.Had the SC307 but they were too big for my room.

If it was an option to keep them I will surely do that.
I also didn't like any of the Adams. Just to harsh on my ears.

Waiting for Eve SC3070, they seem to be really nice. Will wait for reviews of those before buying new ones.

@Warry12 How about a pair of used Focal Twin6 Be. You can get a pair, refurbished by Focal, for less than $2000 including shipping. That is an excellent price for a superb sounding pair of monitors. Hard to beat at this price.

I also found a pair of Focal Trio for $2,999. These monitors are a freaking beast and within your budget. Indeed, i think that there is something wrong with this pricing. Worth checking it out.

Edit: As @taskforce correctly noted, the price for the Trio is for a single monitor.

Yeah! They should be dope. And much more compact than the SC307 :) Also check the type 20 from HEDD

The focals Trio and twin are also featured in pretty much any studio. You should try them first, they sound like focals.

Screw the Shapes hehe. Not that they 're bad of course. But the Focal Twins are a little over 3k euros right now in thomann.de. You can't go wrong with 'em, i 've used mine for many years and they represent some of the finest of the pro audio world. It is one of the very few speakers that stands favorite among pro audio and audiophile enthusiasts alike. And it can be loud as fuck without any noticeable distortion if your other components are on par with it.
@The Pirate Hey mate :) That Focal Trio pair at ebay? I was intrigued and looked it up, then i realized the price is for just one...

Since you wrote the magic word "trance" I decided to join.
All the proposed monitors are really fine and special BUT since you are off limits for Barefoots (like the majority of us I suppose) stretch a little and head for the
    HEDD Type 20
Give them a listen, wait a few months for your budget to grow and then you will be in trance heaven...

Exactly my thoughts but I know you can get them used for about the OP's bugdet. I love those Focals. In fact, I have a pair of Core 7 that will sell to @Warry12 in order to buy the Trio. Hey @Warry12 if you want a pair of Dynaudio Core 7 with less than 800 hours on them, send me a PM.

I'm able to buy Trio6 unused for €1800 euro.. but damn that's 600 over budget, but I know they really have a super good sound. It comes from a known studio builder who said a known Dj never used them and he's selling them. Perhaps I can get a bit more off the price.. sit between or something.

Thing is, that it's a bit more expensive, but if I buy others I may feel sorry for not buying Trio6.

Anything else in the price range of 3k?

    Damn it.. choices.. :-/

Checked those, but a good amp already cost €1000 euro. So that makes it quite expensive compared to (I think) better speakers such as Trio6

Do it! You wont regret it. That is a once-in-a-lifetime expense if you take good care of them. As soon as I sell my Dynaudio, I will get the Trio6.

    Why do you need them?
I worked in studio's there they hade compressors sucking the air out the room to get an more direct sound (which i find funny but it works)
Buy some cans (good frequency responce monitors), and get used to them, that's the trick.
    Learning to listening.
