Do you know where I can download a super stripped-down Windows image to setup a karaoke system on an old notebook?

I was considering Linux, but I'm having trouble making it recognize the USB mixer.

Thanks! I'll give it a try. It's a super slow notebook with an Intel Celeron processor. I'm not sure which Windows version it can handle.

 

windows xp, don't connect it to the internet. I use it for several old notebooks like the one I run my auto diagnostics on

if it only takes 4gb of ram max a 64 bit operating system is a waste, so xp works fine. if its 64 bit capable and has sufficient ram
windows 7. Just disable services you aren't using like fax and remote access in windows services.

 

I'd try Windows 7. Just don't visit any sketchy websites with it (as there are no more security updates) and you should be good.

 

you gotta check what Windows version was supported when it comes to drivers, chipset etc..,
if it's older laptop, then Windows 7 64bit, if it's even older, then Windows 7 32bit,
if it can't run Windows 7 at all, then it won't run karaoke reliably
