    Hi Guys,

I was trying to use Waves Plugs today, but it wasn't possible. Every Plug i was trying to use did react the same strange kind of way. The GUI seems to be out of harmony with the functions.
That means, if i want to use a certain knob, either nothing happens or something else moves into gear.
I click on this knob and if anything happens, it's another knob responding to that. In most cases i wasn't able to do what i want. All these Plugs seemed to have their independent
existence and gave a shit about my commands. I've never seen anything like this before. Every time when i found the graphical region corresponding to a knob, there was some distance in between.
In addition to that the region i have discovered already, wasn't stable, what means i couldn't repeat the same command a second time, because the corresponding region shifted to another unknown place.
I couldn't watch any visible changes on the surface. The GUI itself was stable, the associated function wasn't.

In other words: Waves-Plugs were playing cat and mouse with me and i really had a hard time trying to catch the mouse anew each time. :snuffy:
Im on Mountain Lion 10.8.2 using Reaper. My question is: where should i start first to search for a remedy, before i do the reinstallation thing while it's probably more belonging to the host?
Everything else seemed to be ok, just the Waves-Plugs were taking the piss out of me today

Any idea about a possible reason and/or an eventual solution for that behavior? Thanks for reading.

P.S. Maybe i should go and buy a mousetrap.....?

I know the reason already. Console Log has recorded lots of error messages during the cat and mouse play. It was MTL.agent, which is one part of CCL, a software for the customization of the Mac GUI, causing the trouble.
Reaper Host got somehow irritated by CCL. I didn't know that before, because everything went fine so far. I Disabled CCL - problem solved. I am happy it wasn't anything more worse than that.

    Have you tried another host?

Do you have the latest OpenGL driver installed?

EDIT: Didn't see your update before replying..

Thanks for the reply. To be honest, i didn't know yet, what an OpenGL driver is.
I googled it, just to understand what it is about.

This is what i have found:

    "Mac OS X
Unlike other platforms, where the Operating System and OpenGL implementations are often updated separately, OpenGL updates are included as part of Mac OS X system updates. To obtain the latest OpenGL on Mac OS X, users should upgrade to the latest OS release, which can be found at Apple.com."

Big Brother Apple takes care about it. :dancing:

Again i learned something new - and good to know there is always someone trying to help in this forum, if a problem occurs.

This is really a special place!

Waves plugins do seem to have a problem with some graphic
cards. What happens is that the plugin will either open in
an empty box or the plugin window will look like the graphic
card's had a crash. It happens on PC, on the Mac, and in
various DAWs. On the Mac, if you move the plugin window on
screen a bit, the bug will usually disappear. On the PC,
it's advised that you clear the auth cache (I think the
Waves folder has a tool for that)

People theorize that the problem has to do with Waves
offloading some processing routines to the GPU, to save on
CPU cycles. From a cursory glance, I seems to strike people
    with ATI cards more often.

In Alraun's case Crystal Clear Interface seems to have made
it worse, but perhaps it's entirely unrelated and was caused
    by CCI alone.

Feridan, thanks for adding another point of view. It might be, you never know....

it's a pain in the ass for the average user to interprete these large numbers of console logs the right way. Core.graphics frameworks was right after MTL.agent the most frequent term.

You can disable CCL for each seemingly incompatible software separately, and i did that with every installed audio software to avoid troubles, also with Reaper, but Reaper Host is an app within the main app.
It is not possible to disable it separately.

For those of you, who don't know CCL:

    http://www.marsthemes.com/crystalclear/

To me it's an aesthetical master piece . I am happy, it is still working on Mountain Lion.
But the developer said, he won't fix bugs no more, because he does not have the capacities, to do this for three mac systems.
Apple changed essential things and made it therefore impossible for some third-party developers to follow.

malco, Windows is fine as well. I have two virtual machines, xp64bit & win7, on my mac.
Anyway, i use them less and less. There is hardly a reason left for me to need Windows.... *no* nostalgia maybe..
