Thing with that is IF the market did flood with 2nd hand/hoarded stuff the prices charged for that shit would most likely be double or triple that of retail...

Use the GPU "shortage" of a couple of years back as a model. There were assholes buying up mass quantities of GPU's at retail prices, depleting the retail market for average consumers, then turning around and selling those very same GPU's on ebay and other channels for 2-3 times the retail cost.

There were a few idiots with more ca$h than brains who were buying those way overpriced GPU's but not I nor most others looking to get a GPU at the time. We all just waited until the prices landed back where they were supposed to be. The power here is contained within the large numbered consumer base wherein they refuse to be price gouged and simply will not buy new materials until the prices drop to normal levels. It might take a little time for the message to be received by the OEMs but it eventually does...

True about the "lucky", but right now those drives are 380-410€ here..
Some AI guy already said they reached the top of the training, so it´s all fine tuning and refining models onwards, which means optmizing and scaling down, those big datacenters will become obsolete in the end..

it's a moot point. Inflation isn't prices going up, it the value of the currency going down.

Your $ or £ or (insert your own currency) has less and less value.(spending power)

The more FIAT currency (backed by thin air) they print and inject into the system, the more it deflates the value.

Obviously politicians are falling over themselves trying to stop the public catching on, so they're hijacking the news stories to deflect attention and/or trying to find someone or something else to blame.

The 2nd hand market is also fkd, as desperate people try to make ends meet.
