The guy did so many records. I didn't even know he engineered this one, but it was another favorite from the time of it's release.
Maybe there is a list somewhere of everything he actually worked on. Maybe discography is complete, but I doubt it. This one is fitting.

This record had everyone and their mother on it. He is credited for also playing an oscillator. A jack of all trades. A personal favorite, PIgface - Suck. There is maybe a better live version.

It was already one of my fave Shellac tunes, but this live at a Peel Session 2004, recorded a few weeks after JP's death becomes extra poignant with both dead.

But is it really broadcasting if there's no one there to receive?
As the last announcer plays the last record, and
The last watt leaves the transmitter to circle the globe
    In search of a listener

    Can you hear me now?

    It's the end of radio
John Peel was a hell of a man
    The session today
    it's the end of radio

    Can you hear me now?

This microphone turns sound into electricity
    I wanna ionize the air!

    Absolutely soul-crushing now.

This one makes sense because this band played at the Metro like every other day; or so it seemed.

What kind of letter does one send to Robert Plant and Jimmy Page?

He also played bass on Tapeworm and those guitars on Point Blank are pretty damn recognizable too..

True, he did all of Gub. Tapeworm did not have the benefit of Trent Reznor instead of Kevin Ogilvie aka Nivek Ogre, and not a lot of vocal effects used.

This is the recordings he did with Fugazi that he mentions in the "Nirvana letter". They shelved it.

He did this one record, and they did not work together on any of the others. Even though the record after it saw them blow up. I wonder why.....

Listen folks, we're here to celebrate a man's life work, not spouting conspiracy nonsense.

That said here's my favourite Big Black song and fave take:

L Dopa fixed me alright? The story behind the song is interesting for real, it's about sleeping sickness and Levodopa injections that awakened them but their reality was warped from being asleep for so long. Highly recommend Oliver Sacks' "Awakenings", a book about them by the guy who worked with the patients.

Apparently turned into a film which I've not seen so that might also be worth a watch.

Of all the celeb deaths I've seen, this one still hurts. He was always right there for feedback (or to tell you you're doing it all wrong), was still recording great bands/albums, its almost time for him and Heather's holiday fundraising charity events too. He was one of those folks that was supposed to weather the storm and live forever. My life would have been very different had I never discovered Big Black 30 something years ago. I'm picturing him and Lil Bub floating around in his PT Cruiser up in space and shit nowadays.
